Engine Guard on Break Out
« on: June 19, 2013, 09:33:13 PM »

Greetings all,

Lotus finally arrived. It was harder than naming our baby, is that bad?

Anyhow. I got the engine guard installed and I haven't seen any pictures yet so I was skeptical. I actually like the looks better than I thought I would. I got it because I have seen them save more than one leg, let alone most of the bike in minor accidents. I did not think it would be good visually. I like it, figured I would share. I know it is one of those things that isn't for everyone.

Still have the bag mounts to put on. I will need the bags for the 4th. I look forward to racking up the miles. And of course pipes someday!

I was thinking about adding them to my bike as well. Do you have front or 3/4 view pics of your bike with the engine guards?

Thanks,

And from the front, crappy lighting and from camera phone. I can take more if these don't help.

[/quote]  No its not.  Mine is Bebe.  She even has her own Facebook page  :D  I went with the Linby Linbar.  Visually i think it works well.

Congrats on your purchase.  LoL, I named mine Brutus.  I've been thinking about an engine guard too, I just wasn't sure what was available or looked good.

@Speedy, I like your model.

Any others?

Both bikes look great with the engine guards. I'll go ahead and order them as soon as I can decide which one to go with, HD or Lindby.  :-\

BTW Speedy, is that Linbar 111-1?

Thanks,

Apparently so.  I had this previously on my softail convertible.  The lindby website says 2013 Breakout so you are good to go!  I think you'll like it!

Wow, a little disappointed I didn't know of that one as an option earlier. I do think I like yours a bit better, but not enough to change :)

Do you have any clearance issues with the shifter? I think if I were any taller the forward controls would be a bit too close to the guard.

Eric,

I've got the HD engine guard as well.  I think it looks good.  I also have highway pegs mounted on it, although I think it may have been some money down the drain given my less-than-vertical stature :)  That's the dangers of ordering the accessories before you get your hands on the bike like I did in November!

Plus I think the HD one will look a little sharper once I flip for the oil cooler. Pipes, tuner, oil cooler and the service manual and I think I will be done. Oh, and a garage door opener. I just tie-tied one to the handlebars of my heritage but I think I will spring for the highbeam one if the get it compatible.
