It's here!!!
« on: November 25, 2006, 10:06:37 PM »

Razor Red!!!

Finally!  My bike arrived at the dealership yesterday at noon and I picked it up today!!!  I didn't get out of there until about 4:00 PM but did get 60 miles on it.

MODS:

Passenger floor boards (moved the pegs to the engine guard) I like my feet wide on a long trip.
Matching tour pack (only for those long trips)
Rinehart true duals & SERT (should be here this week)

Initial observations:

OMG what a beautiful powerful bike.  I can only compare to the stock 88", but there is no comparison.  I can't wait to get the duals and tune to see what it can actually do.  I have been lurking for awhile and posted a few times and now that it's finally arrive and mine (the bank may argue that) I can hardly contain myself.  I will be riding all day tomorrow!!!

Thanks team!  It is a great ride and the wait is hard.  I think the sales manager and general manager were as excited as I was for it to get here.  I'm sure they were tired of hearing from me.

One of the "requirements" for getting my SERK (projected shipping in five days - oh, and did I mention it was 11 degrees this morning?) is passenger floorboards.  Do the typical HD ones that use replacement posts in the footpeg mounting holes work, or do you need a little bit of help from an a-dapter kit as Johnny Cash would say?

No adapter kit.  They are smaller and more sleek (sp) looking than those on the RK Classice but they look nice.  I swear I will post some pictures as soon as I find my digital camera.  It's at work somewhere.  All parts are in the HD big book for 07 and MSRP for the changes is about $500.  That's nothing compared to what the guys on this forum will try to get you to spend!  Good luck with the bike and congratulations!  I'll let everyone know how the rineharts work out as soon as they get here.

owenja,
Welcome to the site......I know the feeling,  when I got mine home,  I spent the first week (at night) out in the garage just admiring it.  It's a great feeling,  and now that I've had my CVO for a couple of years,  that feeling never goes away.  I rode to work  today and went outside for smokes twice as often as I usually do (just to look at my bike a little more).  You made a great choice,  and will love this bike way more than any other bike you've ever owned.

Congrats on the ride.......enjoy the sh$t outta it  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Enjoy the new bike - looks like mine is going to be another 3 months!
The parts you need for the passenger footboards are: 52714-04, 50357-04 (grooved) or 50716-04 (smooth) & 52312-07. I know because there're on my list also.

OK, I have added;

Pass. footboards (moved pegs to engine guard)
Stock 19" tinted clearview windshield
Matching Tour Pack
Mustang tourning seat (only for long trips w/picky passenger)

Adding next week:
K&N Filter
SERT
Rinehart True Duals w/chrome end caps (the dealer promises they will be in next week)
Should be on the dyno by Friday next week.....

Spring:

Hoppe Faring (for long trips), provided I can find a painter who can match the paint and leafing graphics.

Impressions:

I'm 6'1" and like a wide stance so moving the pegs to the engine guard was a good move.  The stock seat is comfortable with the backrest moved as far back as it will go.  The clearview windshield provides much more protection than stock.  I thought about going with the SEUC tour pack (bigger) but went with the matching flames and am glad I did.

This bike has tons of power compared to other stock H-D's and I can't wait to see the before and after dyno numbers and hear the sound of those rineharts.

Although I was a bit hesitant to bite off this price tag, I have no regrets.  This bike is awesome and will only get better as I continue to make it "mine".

Hoist, I'm sure you won't like yours and it's not to late for you to reconsider... ;D

owenja,

Great shots.  Thanks for posting.

Did you do the install on your current mods?

Also, are you up to speed on the RH issues with the brake pedal hitting the pipes on the front header?  Would like to know what your (or your installers) experience is when the get to putting them on.  Quite a few of us are considering the RH TD's but see copout221's thread about what he is going through so far.

Congrats again on a great looking bike. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Cobaltman,

I did not install the mounting hardware for the tour pack.  I heard how much of a PITA it was and let the dealer do it.  The others I did, pretty simple stuff.  I am aware that some are having trouble with fitting the rineharts and am hoping that is not the case for mine.  I'm letting the dealer install them.  I will not change the brake pedal lever as I like where it's at now.  I've heard that not every set has this problem and I'm hoping that I get lucky.  The dealer is getting a couple of sets next week and if there is a problem with the first set, hopefully the second one will fit.

That's about right.  You can have them help you clean it but as soon as you turn around it's a mess.  Actually some of the boxes you see were new parts for the SERK and the boss's Heritage.  The rest is clutter that hopefully will be gone soon.

Jim,
If you look here - Dyno Numbers and continue in that thread there are several 110ci motors that have dyno runs posted. I believe the closest thing to yours will have V&H TD's and the other mods you have.

I think we would all be interested in seeing the dyno sheet and getting your impression of how it feels. Don't hold back on us..., we're waiting.

They sound great!!!

Now for the numbers...

Seat of the pants = WOW!!!

I don't have the electronic sheets yet, but will post them when I receive them.

4th gear = Max HP - 90.82 - Max TQ - 106.00
5th gear = Max HP - 91.42 - Max TQ - 108.06
6th gear = Max HP - 92.73 - Max TQ - 109.82

Torque peaks about 3500 RPM's and the air/fuel line is pretty steady.

I was hoping for a little more HP but WTF, that's not what we feel anyway.

The TD's look SUPER and the torque numbers look really good to me but what do I know, I sit at a desk all day.  I think I'll be happy if mine shows that kind of output but not likely since I decided to try slip-ons first.

Hey Jim, glad to hear you're happy with it. Those numbers look good to me. For minimal changes it's still a real good boost from stock. Sure beats an 88"! The bike looks great too!

Here's the chart, 4th, 5th, & 6th gears.  I was hoping for more but it's a nice improvement and does have plenty of power for now.

Owenja,

What's the model number on the Mustang Touring Seat that you got? Mustang had emailed me saying they didn't have anything that would fit the FLHRSE3.
I quess you proved them wrong. Is it a good fit, did it lower or raised you, and did it push you back or forward any?

I just put a Clearview windshield 22" with curve using the brackets that came with the stock windshield/deflector. I haven't tested it yet.

Bart,

The seat is 75464 and it fits.  It does sit you up higher but thats my only real observation at this time.  I can't remember that it moves you closer or farther away.  I've only had it on once very early on and since our highs have been in single digits lately I'm not going to check it out any time soon.  It's only for the long trips with a passenger anyway.  I like the stock seat just fine and when I'm alone that's what I'll ride on.

I've said great numbers before, but the curve is really good too. Looks like you had a tuner that knew his chit. Have fun with it. It must run great! ;) Hoist! 8-)

Ya, I think he did pretty good.  I'm with you Hoist, those numbers will have to do until my warranty is up.  ;D  Then maybe I'll look for more power.
