Aviation Build.
« on: November 01, 2014, 09:24:31 PM »

One of Aviation's customers bout a crashed 2013 Road Glide at a auction. Will be using a hand built Rolling Thunder frame to build a custom Road Glide. Will follow the build and post updated with picks. Should be fun to check out.   Here is the bike at the auction site.  http://www.rollingthunderframes.com/

After the powder coating of the frame all the parts and chunks will go to the mail shoppe and the main build will begin.  Still have to secure the trees, a rim ( or new rims ) and some small odds and sods. The bike will be painted black and white, similar to the graphics style on the RG Skunks.  Raph ( the builder ) will go through the 110 with a fine tooth comb and freshen up the cam chest. Bike has 20,000 KM on it, so right around the age of lifter failure.  Will be a moderately costly venture, but when you consider a CVO  Ultra or Road Glide in Canada is $49,500 before taxes ( $56,000 out the door ) This project will be done for less than half. Cheers.

Pretty Cool!!!  Any idea of the auction cost of the wreckage? I look forward to its progress. Maybe a bill of materials cost list would be cool along with the hours necessary to complete each portion of the project.
Thanks for the post...

The bike was won in a auction for $7000,00 Canadian.  The frame ( with new, clear vin # and title) is from Quebec.  Will check how much it was.  Build time is planned to be approx 2 months. Our painters take a heck of a long time up here. The really good ones are very hard to find, and they know they have the market cornered. So they take there sweet time. It's always the paint that stalls projects up here, sometimes for months.  The only saving grace is the f@$&ng winter. Can't ride any ways.  So waiting is not to to bad.
