Has any one had trouble with the sun glareing on speedometer, making it hard to read. Looking to see if anyone is using a cover or shield.I know Harley sells one but it does notseem to cover much.

Have not seen one for this. We are not using anything. Just had its 10k service and all is going well!
-
Haven't noticed any sun glare problem, but I think the sun has only shined a couple days in Michigan. Riding to the Harley Museum this weekend. The forecast look good.

Yep, took a four day trip the past weekend, and driving north on the first day, a lot of glare. But boy that stock seat beat me up bad. I could ride 600 miles a day with my Heritage, but after 100 miles on tis bike, I'm squirming in this saddle! I have to deal with this seat, or I'll be buying a Honda! :o
-
Hi regarding seat I had a standard deluxe loved the look couldn't last an hour in the saddle so I bought the heritage seats and guess what I was very comfortable so maybe try that plus your scoot will look awesome
-
I have the same seat as you

Hmmm I guess every ass has a seat to fit it! LOL My wife has about 12k miles on her stock seat and loves it…

I am still not happy with the seat,I don't have much of an ass and I need the pocket deeper. I had the same problem with my streetglide and had the front made higher so it kept me in the pocket. I think I will do the same with this one. I ride two up most of the time that's why I don't use the stock seat.I keep riding up on the tank.

Tele I think you are on the right track. My last bike, a 2008 anniversary heritage softail was very comfe. I could ride 500 miles, no problem! I thought buying a CVO, the seat could only be better >:(
-
My seat is a sundowner ,pushs me forward. I went to dealer today and sat on a regular Heritage seat. It fits a whole lot better. They ordered me one should be on the bike this week.

I did the same. Much more gush in those seats! Not sure how the passenger portion will fit. Quoted me $550 for both the driver and passenger seat. Almost ordered. But I thought I would open my seat, remove some foam, install some jel pad and recover and see.
Let me know how you like the heritage seat after you ride a few miles.
-
Hi folks you will also find that with the heritage seats it will give you a little bit more leg room and the passenger pad gives a little lower back support not a lot but enough to help a little on the longer rides hope this is helpful to you all.
-
tele
did you put this seat on a 2014 softail deluxe? If so, can you post pictures?
-
Hi Foot loose no I didn't it was a 2009 deluxe and I don't have a photo but I'm sure that your dealership will have a seat that you can try the seat I had was of a 2013 heritage softail with the studs
-
I will post pic later this week when I pick it up form dealer.

Thanks Older Guy, look forward to see how it looks and if the saddle bags open clear. I opened my seat, cut out some foam and inserted some jel pad. with a short ride tonight, I think it's far better. but the placement isn't just perfect.
-
Hope the bags will clear, will know soon.

New seat, feels great moves me back from being pushed up on the tank. Also a wider seat for my wife to ride with me. The speedo shield works great in the sun. No problem with the saddle bags

The seat looks comfy. Have you tested it with a longer ride? I think this seat is what I need to do.
-
Did 100 miles yesterday, it worked well. Iam very happy with it.

Thanks John,
I guess I'll be talking to Harley tomorrow

Hey older guy how cool does that look as I said before the heritage seats are awesome when I sold my deluxe I kept my seats so that if I ever go back to a deluxe I'll still have that seat for now I'll stick with my cvo roadglide, happy trails
-

Do you have the part number for the speedometer shield?

I was at the dealership last Friday and had them order one for my bike, picked it up today and it's the wrong one. If you don't have the numbers that's fine I'll just have them try again.
-
Sorry, they should know that there is more then one.Ask for the softail size

Thanks John, the one they ordered for me was 74661-04, great for a Road King but a little to large for my bike.

Hi there,
I got my Deluxe in March and I have been following some of these discussions. After your recommendation I ordered the wind deflectors and hope to have them mounted when we go on the route des grandes Alpes from Chamonix to Nice and back end of this month.
I now got around 1.400mls on it and quite happy with the bike. I wonder how the seat is going to turn out on this trip after reading all those comments. One quick question, on the picture with the speedometer shield I saw you covered the handlebar screws. Are those HD parts?
Best regards from Weinheim (close to Heidelberg) Germany

Yes ,they are just plastic covers that just snap on.Most dealers have them.
