Has anyone put a front fork bag on the Deuce? I got one for X-mas from the wife. She got it in the Multi-Fit section of the HD Catalog (it is a Wide GLide Bag). I went to attach it today and low and behold, there is nowhere to put the straps. The filler panels around the light and in the risers do not leave any room to get a strap through.

Man, and I thought I was going to start of 05' with somewhere to put a few things instead of jamming it all in my pockets.

Any suggestion (not saddlebags) to solve my problem?

I tried mine on the downtube also and did not like it. I even looked at doing it on the risers like yours, but once again, it did not look good. I am trying to figure out why yours looks pretty good.

What sixe bag is yours? It looks to be 7 or 8 inches. I have the Wide Glide bag that is 11 inches and when it is put above the light it looks goofy sticking out on both sides. It is made to be put under as the bag is the same sidth as the forks.

I think I will just exchange it for a smaller bag and do what you did. I can't make it out, is yours and HD bag or just misc?

Yes, it is the shorter HD one. The wider one was too much...

well, I can only dream about riding it probably until April. It's winterized and is tucked under it's cover with Battery Tender plugged in, Insurance reduced and has been that way since sometime in Nov.

It will come out to play in April again. I'm keeping the SEEG roadworthy all winter but so far, the snow/ice/sand and salt have kept it also in the garage since just before Christmas.

Understand your trying to find a way to carry a few things on you Deuce...I have a bag that fits of the small back rest that holds all the rain gear & etc...it came from HD. However, if you do not have a back rest then your back to ground O...however, the back rest did not cost that much & the bag that fits right over the back rest does not take away from the style & you don't have to carry so much STUFF in your pockets. I have overnighted once with the little bag...held a toothbrush and clean underwear. Clean (new from a HD Dealer) shirt was kept in my jacket...the plastic shopping bag proved helpful with the Diry Laundry! Tools consist of a Leatherman Wave on hip, Allen Wrench to remove the solo saddle and a cell phone.

I have looked at some of these WAISTPACKS at EMS, Eastern Mountain Sports. They are fairly Big, not obnoxiious (ie. they don't look silly) and they have a water bottle holder. I will be getting one of these someday for solo weekend trips.

Thanks for all the input everyone. I stopped by the dealer today and returned the front fork bag. Just about an hour ago, I decided to go with a bag I have been looking at for awhile, but never really pulled the trigger. I ordered it online and should be here in a few days. I hope it works out. It can actually hold more than a front fork bag and I'm looking forward to giving it a try. I will post some pictures after it is installed and give the official report.

Well, I am beginning to think I there is a conspiracy against the SE Deuce by all storage options.

I received the bag (that I had attached in the picture) today, and yep, you guessed it... NO GO!

The chrome belt guard on the SE Deuce is flush to the swingarm in the spots where the bag needs to be attahced. If it were not for that, the four buckles would go on very easily, and come off easy.

I guess I am just going to have to go with the small HD bag that can attach to the risers.

I may wait and shop around at some of the spring bike shows.

Take the Guard off, I did to install my license plate bracket! It looks great great without it being able to see the sprocket is especially nice.

I don't have a fork bag solution but this is what a buddy of mine did on his '03 SED so he let me copy him on my '04 SED. It's a RKA sport bike rear seat expandable bag. Compressed it holds my spare shades, 2pr of gloves, cap, bandanas, disk lock & other small necessities. Expanded it fit my med. wt. Screaming Eagle jacket (blk w/ org. flames) www.rka-luggage.com 1800 349 1752. Model #SSMINIXRSB for around 79 bucks. hope this helps.

I also put an H-D overnighter on top of the rka bag & tied it down with H-D bungee cords. Went 1900 miles on a 4 day trip from LA to the Utah HOG rally in June. Worked great & it didn't scratch a thing. Unfortunately, the pic from Utah is too big to send on this site. I also removed the filler panel around the headlight because I use a Headwinds headlight housing & a detachable H-D windshield for the long trips.

What pipes are on your SED in the pic. Are they straight pipes or have baffles? I also have a deuce (03 silver/blk). On the topic... wife and I rode from Portland, OR to the 100th party 2-up on the deuce. With saddlebags, lugage rack, rack pack another bag bunggeed to the rack pack along with our extra coats. We had enough onboard for a week at a time. Best ride of my life! [smiley=huepfenjump3.gif]

V&H Big Radius...they are baffled, sort of, but not removeable as far as I can tell...but I may have read somewhere that someone did remove them.

i have the hd hard bags and really like them. i found them on ebay for cheap and had them painted to match bike. they only take a second to mount so for trips just put them on and take off. they have quick release pins on the inside of bags too. i made a custom luggage rack that attaches to hard bag mounts and had this chromed. in the hard bags i carry tire inflator kit-windzone tool kit- water-warm gloves-map-gps-hat- all kinds of stuff. good luck ride safe

Thanks Yellow, that is a great option. I did get the smaller front fork bag just to solve my around town issues (phone, keys, glasses, multi-tool, etc), but I think I will get this to have for an overnight option, or as you guys say, maybe even a whole week.
