Title: 18" rims on touring bike
Post by: Grover on April 07, 2006, 10:12:05 AM
Does anybody here have 18" rims on their bike? If so, just curious what tires you've been running & how the ride has changed. How is the warranty on the aftermarket wheels?

Should I just stick to the 16" oem detonator wheels [smiley=confused5.gif]

Any input would be appreciated,

Grover

I run 18's with Metzler ME 880 tires. The tires are great. The handling in the rain and on dry roads couldn't be better. The ride did suffer some though not much. As far as warranty goes RC Components is now giving a seven year warranty on chrome and Weld is five year. In hind site I'd install a polished rear wheel and a chrome front. Why? It's a pain in the ass cleaning the rear wheel and thus does not always get the attention it deserves. The polished wheel would do just fine until I got around to taking care of it. JMO.
