2020 Road Glide CVO Cover?
« on: July 02, 2020, 12:28:23 PM »

A question for the 2020 CVO owners.

I had noticed the Motorcycle Cover that came with my bike is listed as Harley Part# 93100061. It clearly states that it is for a Trike/Tri Glide. Can anyone check theirs and possibly see if I am going crazy or if they possibly gave me the wrong cover for my Road Glide. Thanks for any help!

according to your owner's manual, you should have got the same cover for your bike that i got for my 2013 roadglide.  part number 93100031.  time to get with your dealer and get that switched out.

The covers H-D provides with CVO bikes suck. They scratch paint like sand paper. Don’t use them - especially to transport bikes on an open trailer. Complete frickin garbage. You’ve been warned.

I think the point is....NEVER put a cover on your bike when towing on an open trailer.

Interesting......I will get with the dealer and see why the part numbers don't match. I asked initially when I was looking over the bike but I was assured that they work with either or. I have no intention of using it for anything at the moment but would like everything to be there and correct anyhow.

So does everyone else have the correct cover for your 2020 then?

NO cover what so ever when on a open trailer.

I use a King size cotton bed sheet that's been used on several bikes.

No cover on a trailered bike.  If it's an enclosed trailer there is no need.  If it's an open trailer all the movement and wind will be abrasive.  It's not the cover's fault if it's used wrong.

Indeed. My coworker open trailered his ‘19 Black Forest CVO SG to Florida for bike week this year and used the HD cover. Destroyed the paint, as you could probably imagine. So, yes, don’t cover a bike on an open trailer. He was somehow able to convince HD to pay to have the scratches and scuffs taken out at a local dealer in FL while he was there. Not sure how he accomplished that, exactly, but he did.

In any case, the cover HD supplies will scratch the clear coat on the bike simply by putting it on and taking it off in the garage. I’ve experienced that myself and don’t use the HD cover for that reason. Cotton bed sheets work much better in my experience.

Agreed, that is what I use for garage storage as well.

I agree on the HD covers being abrasive. I also agree a bed sheet will work, But if you go to Jo-Ann's Fabrics you can buy even softer material off a bolt for less than the price of the sheets and you can get one large piece that will go from end to end of the bike. Just measure from floor in front of bike to floor in rear of bike and buy a piece of whatever color and however soft you want it. That way you can lay it on the bike, square it up and take sharp sissors and trim around the bottom to fit. Not Custom buy cheaper than using a one or more sheets.
