Reverse
« on: July 26, 2020, 11:40:49 PM »

Hey all

I'm having my dealer put reverse on my 2017 FLHTKSE. Bike getting heavier at my age. Anyone have this done?  How is it working out for you?  I understand it will be electric.

I agree...I’m 66 and the weight is kicking my ass. I have thought about, but am uncertain on the ease of working it, and the impact on the current engine block. Please let me know how it works...if you decide to get it installed. Thank you.

I have Baker's F6R reverse on my Road Glide and Yelvington's reversing pulley on my Road King. I prefer the Baker but both let me move the bike backward when needed. I'm 66 with bad knees and short legs. Having reverse means you never have to worry about where you park.

Joe, I was thinking about the baker reverse, let me ask, does the bike “runaway” at all when in reverse? was told they are hard to control... thank you

I think it's really easy to use and control but I do have to feather the clutch while in reverse because it moves pretty quickly. I've never gone backwards with the clutch fully engaged but I've backed up long distances, around corners, and even up a loading ramp at work (just to see if I could) with no problem at all. I prefer the Baker because it's so easy to get in and out of reverse. I had it in my Ultra Classic before moving it to the Road Glide so I've been using it for about 6 years now without any issues.

What brand reverse did you have installed?   Are you happy with it?

I've had the Baker  reverse in 2 bikes so far and my new will have it before I take delivery. Have not tested other manufactures reverse drives but I love the Baker system. You do need to learn how to feather the clutch while using reverse but it's an easy lesson to learn. You already feather it in forward anyways.
