Changing PIn on Smart System
« on: April 10, 2007, 11:44:44 PM »

OK, It's official. I'm a real moron. Can anyone tell me how to change the pin on the alarm system? I tried to following the inst. in manual but no luck. Says to "turn IGN key , ignition-off-ignition-off-ignition" What the heck??
I tried to find a post on this so either nobody's changed their pin or I am said person.
Please make me feel better, HA

Same problem here. Called dealer and was told not able to change pin or put in chirp mode. Was told some of the first 07's you could but not on the later builds. Picked up my bike last week of Feb.

I got my bike in November.  Didn't have any problems putting my own PIN in for the alarm system and I just tried 4Stars procedure mentioned in another thread for getting the alarm to chirp when it arms, and now that works too.  ;D

It seems to be only a matter of proper timing. The signal buttons must be pressed simultainiously and very quickly to start. Do not play ar0ound when in there as you could inadvertantly remove fobs from system. Don't ask me how I know this.  ;D But I can tell you how to recover if so. ;)

Same here what Red said. Only advice is to hit flashers really quick when you turn on ign. Goodluck.

The factory default is set at 31313.  What you need to do is have your key fob lying up by your fuel tank.  (1) Turn you ignition switch on and off three times.  Leave the ignition switch on after the third time.  (2) Turn your LEFT turn signal on and off three times.  Leave your LEFT signal on.  (3) Press your RIGHT turn signal on once.
(4) Your odometer should now show 31313.  Press and hold your LEFT signal in to change your first code number.  Keep pressing your LEFT signal until you find the number you want.  It can only be 1 through 9.  You cannot use zero.  Once you have inputted in the digit you want press the RIGHT turn signal and do it again.  Do the same for each digit.

Hope this helps!!
