If your brave and can use a soldering iron you can easily add one to the rear of the radio. I have done it on a few radios. The wiring for the jack is accessable inside the radio. I used an 1/8" stereo extension cable, cut it about 2 feet from the female end and soldered it in on the board. Run the end out the back of the radio and your set. The best part is that both inputs will still work.

I consider myself brave. I would walk through the gates of hell with a five gallon bucket of water and try to put the fire out, but me with a soldering iron... Now that's some scary chit. [smiley=nervous.gif] [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif]

LOL, you guys!

Gary, just getting the radio out is a SOB.  The nuts on the side are pretty difficult to get to unless you have fingers like my 6 year-old.

Just need a long allen wrench with one of the wobbly ends on it.  Not even a special tool.  Craftsman, decent auto parts store, etc.  Radio can be a quickie in and out unless you've been insane enough to bury it with tons of extraneous bullchit.

Don,
Not to worry I got your back w/o you soldering the radio. Hell I'll even use your favorite beverage (as long as it is not flammable) to put you out. That way you can be refreshed and extinguished at the same time. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Oh chit, another reason not to fool w/the radio. :-? Oh well I'm not using the Aux plug I have now. Last night after reading some threads about the Garmin GPS had me thinking today while working at my part-time job about acquiring one of them. Shame on you guys for putting all these ideas in my head. ::)

Seems like every time I want to do something on the bike I need some new tool. What happened to the days of a set of wrenches, sockets, screwdrivers and a BFH would take care of everything. [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

No kidding, Don.....   very wierd.
So!  On with the question....   If I was a chicken chit, and had fat fingers, no special tools, and no handy six year olds to mess with the nuts, would there maybe be a pair of wires coming out the back of the radio that I could splice into for the aux connection?

Breeze I've not had one open but Dude said he'd done a few.  However....  having been inside of too many other devices doing things that either were or sometimes weren't on the menu what you'll likely find is pretty straight forward.

Look for the connection points on the board where the current aux connector mounts.  On to those  solder points tap a wire pair.  Bring that wire pair around back and hang another jack on the end of them.  Same thing as adding another jack by splicing in to the harness to the current jack except that it's surface mounted and not wired.

Nothing really in the way of "special" tools likely needed.  Normal stuff to take the fairing off.  A long allen wrench is very handy to get the radio out.  And a soldering iron.  And, of course, the BFH.

Since Dude has told us the job is do-able that means the contacts points needed are accessible once the cover is off.  That's all we really needed to know.

Yup...  that's what I ran into when I got there, and then got to thinkin " what's the difference between a cord running from the dash to the dash vs a cord runnning from the GPS to the dash", and then I just put it all back together and had had some more rusty nail to wash the thoughts around.......   I hate not thinkin ahead... :o

For stereo there is probably three wires...just in case somebody tries to follow your instructions...
