when it was still a road king i did some 500 and 600 mile days now that its a frankenserk ive done some 800+ days

Longest day ride was 1,162 miles from Knoxville to Amarillo, TX.  That trip was actually Knoxville to Phoenix and back in 4 1/2 days (3,700 miles).  Ride home was two 900 miles back to back....didn't get back on the bike for a couple weeks after that ride.  Longest from home....went from Knoxville to Banff, BC (2,700 miles) but did that 6,800 miles (with all the side trips and such...) in 12 days there and back with a stop over in Sturgis.  Longest day on that ride was 850 miles.

I was a bit younger then...

Still, when I hit the interstate, that yearning hits me and I'm ready to go again....

Hey Ultra, was there any mechanical issues?  What are the important things you now carry before you start a long trek?  Sounds like you put the extreme test to the the HD products, and we all could gain some insight.  I'm pretty sure I couldn't handle thousands of miles in the saddle, within a few days, but you never know.
