The Loop is ~65 miles but I assure you there are many more miles of trails up here!

So many ghost towns up here…Did you know?  Animas Fork, a ghost town, had an astounding 25 feet of snow fall in 23 days in 1884.  Holy No Snow Shovel!

Honk!  Honk!  Anyone around there?

Time for me to start my return to base and I certainly do not want to go.  Time well spent and I will do it again in a heartbeat!

I think I will just climb into this hole and live here a while.  On second thought maybe not.

One last stop for the Jeep!  The Ouray Little Switzerland Overlook!  This really is a great place to stay and have a base camp for the Southern part of Colorado.  One of my favorites which is why I return.

Day Twelve | Ouray, CO – Tucumcari NM | 500 miles

Waking up and hoping on the motorsickle was one of the last things I wanted to do today as I wanted to stay longer.  However, that is not an option but a return to the area is.

My morning would have me returning to the Million Dollar Highway of which I have traveled many times but it never grows old.

Today’s journey would be about getting’ down the road and settin’ myself up for the remainder of my adventure.

Gas n’ Go would be the rule of the day after a late start with plenty of stops on the Highway.

For the evening, I would end up in Tucumcari, NM at a hotel I have stayed several times in the past.  Upon arriving I noticed another motorsickle already parked for the evening.  I looked at the tag – South Carolina.  Mmmm…  The bike?  A H-D 2017 Black Road Glide that had definitely been ridden.

When I parked my bike, I guess the sound alerted the owner of this bike.  Coming out of second floor room would be the owner of this ride.  She introduced herself.  Come to find out, we lived near each other and she was riding solo, a quest she does quite often.  She was traveling west to attend a certification program as she is an elementary school principal.

This road warrior travels all over the USA on her bike and has “peeps” all around the states.  She has traveled to all 48 states and has Alaska set for next year.  In speaking with her she was a no BS gal and could take care of herself.  RESPECT.

Day Thirteen | Tucumcari, NM – Oklahoma City (Bricktown), OK | 400 miles

Today’s ride would be back to the heat, sun, wind and rain.  It was so nice to get away from all of that while in Colorado.

There were several stops along they way that I have already posted in this thread on another journey.  This time, it would be in Groom, TX that I would spend some time.
