Got a Vanson jacket in 2000.
(silver and black of course)
Was the stiffest jacket I ever had. It would stand by itself.
I called Vanson to figure out how to loosen it up.
They gave me three options,

1) Wet it down and put it on and ride a while and it would soften up.
    (Wrong answer, it was February)
2) Wet it down and beat the crap out of it with a baseball bat.
3) Put it in the dryer with a bunch of softballs and tumble for a couple hours on no heat.

#3 worked like a charm!
Best jacket I have.
Good friend borrowed it and then took a tumble on the interstate at 120mph.
Sent the jacket back to Vanson, they fixed it, good as new!
Great product from a great company!

I have a model "B" jacket that bought in 1990, your right they do take a while to bkeak in...reason being , they a full grain hyde, not split grain like most others. I had a sleeve zipper problem last year...called them an got a return receipt from them, sent them the jacket, they put all new zippers in....the heavey duty brass type, they also replaced the inner lining, another service they offer is to re-drum dye the outer leather and re-buuf it to look like new...I declined that service as my jacket is worn and battle scarred to perfection...I think i originally paid $295.00 in 1990...a hefty sum back then....but 17 years later and many miles it has turned out to be the best investment in motorcycling i have ever made

I have a Vanson "Breeze" (Black) that I bought in  Mar 2001. It is the leather they call ProPerf. Heavy & thick but the perforations (holes) stay open. I live in SW Florida, never, ever ride without a coat. Wore it non stop until last year when I bought there mesh coat and still wear the leather until temps get in the 90's, Good product, I gained a few pounds (since lost) but during the larger time I saw the Vanson Rep @ Gainesville AHDRA meet and he volunteered they would make the coat fit "better" for $60. How many companies would modify an existing coat vs try to sell you a larger new one.
