We have had lots of rain in east TN, and another week of rain predicted every day.  I did manage to get in an 167 mile ride yesterday to get some groceries and prescriptions.  I did get sprinkled on a few times, but nothing serious and it did not go though the leathers.  The king performed flawlessly.

Today I'll pick up Red Pepper from the dealer.  They fixed the volume control, and have new rotors for the front on order and a new speedometer.  Then I'll stop by a friends home and we will start building the engine on Red Pepper.

Dropped off the rear rim/tire for some new rubber yesterday at the dealer. Without starting a debate, I'll say that I'm going with an American Elite this time to see if it goes longer without cupping than the HD tire. Will have to update this in about 8k miles. lol

I have American Elite on both my 2103 and 2109 CVO bikes.  The 19 has 9K miles on the tire, it is just starting to show signs of cupping where as the HD dunlop shows that at 5K.  Still no howl when laid over in a curve like a HD Dunlop.  I think I have 7K or more miles left on the tire.  We will see.  I like the tire.

Yesterday we started tearing down the engine on the Red Pepper to build it, this is after just under 5 hours of work.  Bike had 22,804 miles on it at the start.  Will work on her today until its time to go to DR appointment.

So what will your total build consist of Dave? I assume complete S&S camchest upgrade with their lifters and pushrods? Black lifter blocks and push rod tubes like I did? What cam did you decide on?

Installed Rockout's and a CoolFlow Fan kit.   Once I figured out the base circle, the process went ok (btw i must be weak because there was no way I was rolling the tire in 5th even with spark plugs out to move the rockers so I just moved the bike fore and back).  CoolFlow fan was pretty easy to get put in and came with all the parts, will see how it works next time I ride in traffic.   As a benefit of spending a the weekend that sports died, I did find that my front spark plug must have been cracked as it split in half as soon as the socket touched it (boot may have been holding it together) so replaced them as well.

Bike seems a bit quieter in the rockers and hopefully will keep my leg a bit cooler.

No, not S&S cam chest.  Using the 2020 HD 8 lobe oil pump.  Most major builders are getting very good results with it.  One builder is selling all his used S&S oil pumps as better results with HD latest one.

Got a lot done in 3.5 hours yesterday.  Time was limited due to DR appointment.

Got the primary apart, old clutch out and then installed the new Recluse Torque drive clutch.  It has twice as many plates as stock so way more surface area to handle the increased torque and HP.  We will see how it works soon.

Then we got the cam chest torn apart, oil pump out, cam out, cam bearings out.  Installed new inner cam bearing, then the CR-482 cam was installed.  Installed the 2020 HD 8 lobe oil pump, installed the rest of the parts for the cam chest, then the Woods Alpha lifters and S&S ant rotation lifter cuffs.

We have much more time to work on her today.

We spent 11 hours working on putting the motor together yesterday.  Very productive.

We got the pistons installed, the S&S cylinders installed, the heads installed with Adjustable rocker arms, the HPI port matched intake and HPI 62 mm throttle body installed also, its almost to good looking to cover.  6.1 injectors in.  I also went with black lifter block covers and push rod covers.

Motor is together, installed the Heavy Breather extreme, very tight fit with the Fang, about 1/3 inch clearance.  However it or the Ventilator extreme is needed to flow enough air.  Started right up, and did the first heat cycle.

Today I need to get a two more heat cycles done, then a little ride to seat the rings.  Also need to put things back on like mid frame heat deflectors, heat shields, floor boards and so on.

I'd like to know more about the Recluse Clutch after you've used it for a while.   I am hearing a lot of stuff about these lately.    One of my friends even said you don't have to use the clutch anymore at lights?  Is that true?  Or maybe only true for some models?

Recluse has two clutches for the CVO bikes.  I used the Recluse Torque Drive, which works just like your existing clutch.  Big difference is all the friction plates and plates are thinner, so it has twice as many of them inside the clutch basket.  This gives twice as much surface area for the clutch to develop gripping pressure.  Leave pull only a little harder than stock.

They also make an Auto clutch.  Yes you can sit at a light in gear and not have the lever in, as rpms go up clutch engages.  Clutch lever still works if you want.  Not sure all the details but this is it in a nut shell.

Well finished putting all the parts on the bike yesterday.  I got two more heat cycles done on the bike.  Then once cool, started it again and took it for a little ride to seat the rings good.  Then I rode her home.  I have 62 miles on it.  Motor is quiet and smooth, and feels real strong.  It does need a tune as its rich below 3000 rpm.  I have an appointment to have it Tuned on Tuesday.  I'm really anxious to have that done.   Hope to get a few more miles on it today.
