This is very sad. Anyone have any idea how the tires are attached? Lug nuts/ nut and cotter key? Are they a solid axle?

They are a 4 stud/nut system like a car.
Aluminum wheels are a bugger if they are not properly torqued after driving for a few miles. Not saying this is the case but it is a possibility.
Real bad news though.
