Title: New Member FXR2
Post by: FXR2evo99 on May 18, 2007, 08:11:06 PM
Hello,

I hope this finds everyone doing well....I am here in Colorado.  I am the owner of a 1999 CVO "Arresting Red" FXR2.  I purchased this bike in May of 2005 after a long and drawn out hunt across the country.  I decided upon the "Arresting Red" FXR2 because I like the black engine, I had a purple bike at the time....and the "Harley Davidson" on the tank appears as a hologram...it disappears in certain sun light....which I find very unique.  My buddy's wife owns the Emerald Green/Black FXR3 so I couldn't get that one.....and I actually preferred the wheels on the FXR2 over the FXR3 Thunderstars....so the blue one went away as an option...it was a heck of a matrix to decide which one....I ruled out the 4's for me merely because I couldn't wrap my mind around the silver engines......it's a taste "thing" but they are ALL beautiful bikes....

I found this place via my buddy who just recently e~mailed me this site....and so here I am....ready to meet and greet with other CVO owners....I am particularly interested in chatting with other CVO FXR owners.....

I have made some modifications to my bike such as a laced 19" wheel, I actually found some new FXRS-Convertible saddle bags and so I located all of the brackets as well...and recently finished the install of them upon my bike, which also required relocating my turn signals....and since I wasn't particularly enamored with the turn signal "kit" that harley offers which is a long tube that attaches to a stand up license plate holder I pulled out my dremmel tool and a drill and modified my laid down license plate that I had purchased from JP Cycles....this was accomplished without any fender modifications.  Just two "snip snips" and the wires were free to be moved accordingly.....if anyone is interested I have photos.....So other modifications have included adding a 3010 V~Thunder cam to the bike, v&h propipe with Heat Shields, a screaming eagle air cleaner modification, oh and I did add an FXR3 seat to it as well....that seat is sure compfy......oh and when I did the new 19" wheel recently I also had acquired a brand new primed FXR3 fender off of EBAY for a very reasonable price and took it to my local painter and he matched the "candy" arresting red "restricted" color PERFECTLY.....oh and I have a quick release windshield on it as well....the bike had 5,400 miles on it when purchased and now it has 8,800 miles.  The past two summers have been spent preparing bikes for projects and now that these are all behind me I am ready to just ride.....

I must add that is there anything seriously more comfortable than an FXR.....I currently own also a 2002 FLHRCI RKC and I previously owned a 2003 FXDL Dyna Low Rider.....and this FXR2 rivals my RKC for comfort!!!!!

I look forward to making some new acquaintances and friends as we journey upon the highways......

FXR2, FXR3, and FXR4 owners congratulations for picking one of the very best bikes HD has ever made......Let The Journey Begin....

Regards,

"FXR2evo99"

Welcome to the site. Nice motorcycle. The 21" wheel is the one, but you need to go to 80 spoke. The bags look great and I like the 2 into 1 exhaust you picked out. It goes really well with the FXR. Overall, very nice example of a CVO tastefully modified to suit it's owner. You still see the bike the MoCo produced yet it has your personal stamp on it.

Welcome aboard.  I saw your post over on the "other" board and enjoyed seeing the pictures.  Always good to see another FXR guy here, or anywhere, for that matter.

I was particularly interested in your front wheel swap--I've thought about doing the same thing but always talked myself out of it.  Now I'm thinking about going to a same-size wheel with either stainless or chrome spokes--those bland zinc plated stockers relly bug me sometimes.  We also both swapped out our Badlander seats for FXR3 models.  Great minds think alike. ;)
