Recently I installed High Outputs. I LOVE the looks and sound, but could swear I've lost a little zip on the throttle. The previous exhaust was SE Fatshotz. Ugly and made the bike sound like a Goldwing. However I feel like the bike had more balls with those.
I wouldn't think a change in power would really be noticeable just changing out slip ons (especially since both are considered "upgrades"). Could this be a perception issue for whatever reason? I kinda wanna throw the Fatshotz back on! I do have Fullsac DX/TTS tuner on the way so if there was a loss, I'm should that would help get it back.

If you haven't tuned for the muffler change, there is the issue. Yes, it can make that much difference.

Not un common to have a loss of low end power.. They are better to be called Low output ..
They can make a bigger PEAK tq number under WOT however they give up on the low end peak fast and then fall off.. Under normal riding they tend to make the bike feel sluggish under low RPM. even when you flat open it up they will need some time to build if under 3000 RPM on avg.
The baffle is just too large to produce the proper back pressure ..

My experience with V&H Monster Ovals was much like you said. Great sound, but it felt like it lost a step.

Thanks for the replies. I was wondering about how "open" they were and figured maybe that was the cause. Hopefully the DX/TTS combo with the map they provide get me a little pep back. May look into something else down the road regardless. But damn do they look and sound good!

Do they have a 2.5" or 3" baffle?

Hell it may be 4". They are huge. If there is an option for smaller ones and it would help performance then I'd like to explore that option.

There are no options on that baffle. I have give some thought to making a core kit for it but time being what it is no sure that will happen this year yet. I end up tuning a fair amount due to the dealers installing them. So if I can upgrade what is there , and its not a massive under taking then I just might.. ( for the bikes we are tuning that is)

In the meantime is there a slip-on you'd reccomend with the DX setup? I'd sacrifice some looks and sound for performance any day.
EDIT: I still have the stock exhaust. If those work well with the 2.0 cores, I may just go that route. I'm guessing they would have a map for my exact setup then.

Don't know if this will help or not, I have a 07 SERK 110c.i. have been running Zippers Thunder-Max with auto tune for several years, Have had two different complete exhaust systems one was the V&H Big Shots, Had a lot of low end the looks was ok but sounded like chit, went to V&H True Duals with the V&H Hi-Outputs was sluggish low end but very strong from 3000 or so up, Ran into Zippers at a Rally had them tweak the Thunder-Max, Low end came back I think stronger than ever and still strong mid range. What those 4" mufflers were doing was making it run rich (sluggish low end)
As far as i'm concerned for the looks and sound I wouldn't switch them for anything.

Thank you for the info! It's good to know I can likely get that low end back and keep the exhaust because I do love em' aside from that issue. My only concern at this point is just hoping the map gets everything squared away that is provided with the TTS. Hoping to avoid a full dyno tune if possible, at least right away.

Contact Steve @ FullSac,, He will give you sound advice on what needs to be done with the mufflers.

I got a little background info on the Fatshotz. I guess they are made for Harley by Supertrapp, who makes an exhaust that is identical (even called "Fatshots"). Apparently they are a great performing exhaust, which I know they are at least better than High Outputs :) A reputable dyno guy in Evansville IN is going to install the Fullsac DX with the Fatshotz, Powervision tuner, and perform a dyno tune. Pretty excited to see how it runs after!

you can the quite baffle, it will give you your low end back.
They still sound good under power!

Man I will check into that. I'm fine sacrificing some volume. They should still sound deep which is what I like better.
