Progressive 970 Remote Reservoir Shocks
« on: September 21, 2015, 08:30:34 AM »

Just wondering if anyone has fitted a pair of these shocks and if so how good are they. Just interested as they are half the price of the Ohlins.
Thanks.

I've got them on my bike.  I like them BUT I can't find a good all around setting for both the highway and twisties.  I tend to keep my suspension super rigid since I'm very aggressive in the mountains and I can eliminate any wobble.  The down side is I have a very rough ride on the slab.  The remote reservoirs control the dampening but I still need to take off my bags and use the spanner wrench to adjust the stiffness.  The dampening comes in handy on the fly but doesn't cut it when I need to make a true adjustment.  Overall a good shock for an average rider but you need to dial it for your riding style in order to get the full benefit of the shock.  Just my opinion....

Sometimes you get what you pay for................ Ohlins are in my opinion one of those money well spent items. And I have them on both of my bikes.

I have owned a few models of Progressive shocks, not the 970's though.

I have the middle of the line Ohlins now.

I will spend the extra money and get the Ohlins from now on.

Still need to take bags off to adjust stiffness.  Easy to do though.  Keep mine fairly stiff due to all the hilly curves in my area.

Progressive shocks suck- plain and simple. Classic case of big company with lots of advertising and marketing. Short of that, an inferior product.
