Here on The Island....I put it away in early November.....insurance is to expensive for the odd day that it's not raining through the winter. Some years I put 'day insurance' on the bike for $30/day......if my sched and the weather coincide.
The first year living here was kinda novel to ride all year....but that wore off when I was spending more time cleaning than riding.

I'm with you in northern Illinois, Nicky Pass! Usually Nov.1 I'll call it a year, change all the fluids and put it to bed for the winter. HVAC, you a Pipefitter or sheetmetal worker?

I'm gonna be willing to get out until the first salting.....or when baby #2 gets situated.

I'm a sheet metal worker.....local 73.  It's a family business...we supply contractors....not installing.

Fortunately never.   But we still get the occasional 5 or so inches of snow.  This shuts me down for a week to 10 days, can't plow my sand/gravel road good enough for the bike.  My road (1.5 miles) is shaded by big pines and even at 50 degrees it takes a week to melt.  With 40 degrees as my low limit, i can still generally ride 5 or 6 times a month during the winter.  The average temp for the Jan and Feb is 41, March is 49, so still ride-able.

Photo is about 8 years old and the pines are significantly bigger.

But this year I'll "put them away" early.....yup puttting all the bikes far "away" from CT  :D   I'm "putting them away" in our new home in Tennessee at the end of October and I hear rumors of all year riding  ;)

That would be the truth, no rumor.... ;D

Reading this reminds me that it is almost Christmas again and it is 90 fricking degrees outside!!! No kidding. The leaves are all still on my red oaks like it is spring or something. I love that we can ride year around here but it is strange when the rest of the world is in a "winter wonder land" and here in Plano Texas we are still wearing T-shirts while riding.

I agree you could ride some in every month of the year here in East TN but it might not be very comfortable. It there is no snow ice or salt i can ride at 28 degrees but I am not going to because i do not enjoy it that much. I could ride in salt to but I choose not to risk damage to corrosion. I don't ride much after mid November till late March.
