Has anyone used this fluid in the transmission?
The bottle states it is for V-Twin Transmissions

I use the Amsoil brand because my brother is a dealer, but the 75w-140 gets rid of the "Clunk?" when shifting into first gear. I change it every 20K.

So I put the Lucas gear oil i to the trans and road home and back to my shop, 15 mile round trip.
At the shop I could hear trans noise at idle in gear and in neutral. Very disappointing.
In my other bike I used Spectro Platinum for 6 speed but could not find any, that is why I tried the Lucas.
I called the dealer to see what was used back at the 1000 mile service and was told Formula +, so I drained and filled trans with Formula + and so far back to being quiet, 500 miles into our trip and still like it was before using Lucas.
Could it be Lucas was too thick or because it is synthetic I don't know, but I am just happy the noise is gone.

Have used Formula + with good results, also ok on noise.

Interesting observations on idle noise. Never experienced a gear oil change noise idling. Changing oils for me has only changed the feel of gear changes and maybe the clunk/click noise level.
Synthetic 75w-90s and 20w-50s (about same viscosity) always worked fine, but 75w-140 even better. 85w-140 however didn't have a good feel, especially cold.
I've personally settled on the Royal Purple 75w-140. All things considered it is the best I've found for my criteria.

It isn't because it's synthetic. Most of the best gear lubes these days are synthetic, including that Spectro Platinum you mentioned. As for viscosity, there is no need to use anything more viscous than 80 or 90 weight GL-1. In fact, some claim the heavier lubes do not flow well in a Cruise Drive trans due to smaller passages and clearances in some areas compared to the old five speed boxes.
Formula+ is within the 90 weight gear oil spec btw, as well as the 20w50 motor oil spec. These are the specs for Formula+ for anyone interested. Harley doesn't follow normal industry conventions so you won't see something like 75w90 GL-1 on the label. Harley likes to make people think they can't substitute or make it more difficult by not giving you the industry numbers for many of their maintenance products. This product is one example.

I've used the Formula + in the tranny and primary for the last several years on three different bikes. No problem at all. Shifts fine. Neutral is easy to find. No unusual noise. No clunking when going into first gear. And the price is right. I see no reason to switch.

F+ is very close in viscosity to most 20w-50 synthetic motor oils.

I've had very good results from using supertech 75w-90 full synthetic at $5.69 qt from Walmart.
getting ready to change it again at the 40k mark. hd says 20k on trans oil changes, and I've really not found any reason to change it more than that. a modern car trans specs the oil change at 100,000 miles. why can't your hd go 20k?

Don't misconstrue my previous post, there is nothing wrong with Formula Plus for the primary and trans. It works fine, just like most of the other similar lubes on the market. My only gripe is with the lack of industry standard labeling.

Just changed my trans oil out from 20w50 to 75w90 synthetic yesterday. I went out today and at first it was hard to change gear I almost turned around at the end of the my road to go back home. But then I realised it did change gear it was so smooth I didn't feel it change.
Tomorrow I'm doubling up and loading up with what the wife wants to bring for a trip to the coast.
The trans will get a good work out and I'll then see how it goes.

Like a top mate, was like riding a new bike. Motor sounded and performed better than I had anticipated. Well chuffed.

We made it here to Deadwood and I am happy to say the crazy noises the trans made with Lucas never came back, in fact I forgot all about it.
Changing the trans oil Friday set us back about 1 1/2 hrs do to needing to go get it, than we had to eat lunch, but it was for the best. See we were now behind all the rain.

Just FYI, If you need an oil change while in Sturgis and you choose one of those on the corner changer spots. Ask to see the filter they will use, then ask for one with more than 2 or 3 holes in it.
