I think the old ones were referred to as "electrical bombfires".

I think the old ones were referred to as "electrical bombfires".
 :huepfenlol2:

When one of my fire partners and I were in the automotive field he worked at a jag dealer. The techs were not allowed to touch anything that the car was not in for, because they were so temperamental. Many an electrical problem too.

We had a Jag dealer in town and have had multiple fires at the shop over the years. Granted, these were the cars of the 70's and 80's, which were horrible. More so then every other dealer combined.
We have quite a few high end dealers in town, including MB, BMW, Ferrari, Bentley, Maserati, Porsche to name a few.

My signature lists my garage contents..............

I'll post a couple of pics with comments.

This is my '05 Wideglide.  Lots of chrome extras.  Upgraded engine to 95 cu in @ 7k miles.  Nallen heads from CO.  10.5 CP forged pistons.  S&S 585 gear driven cams.  Roller rocker arms.  Race Tuner netted 107 hp & 107 tq on dyno @ HD dealer in Joplin, MO.  Rode her to Sturgis and back twice (from Okla) and to the Dragon and back.  Trouble free for 45k miles.  This pic is from one of my many solo trips to/from CO.

My project for the last 3 yrs (in my spare time).  Factory Five Roadster AC Cobra replica.  I started with a bare frame and 'glass body from Factory Five, and have got it to this point by myself.  No Mustang donor parts, all new suspension parts, brakes, etc.  Fuel cell.  Now I'm driving it, just to have a little fun with it while I'm prepping the body for paint (setting gaps on hood, trunk, doors, sanding seams on the 'glass body, etc).  This pic was on Hallett road course about an hour west of Tulsa.

I sourced a bare 428 FE block on ebay with standard bore, and I installed a 4.25" Scat stroker crank.  Now 455 cu in.  Alum heads, intake and water pump.  Holley 850 DP.  A "snotty" Comp Cams and 10.1:1 forged pistons.  Full MSD ignition.  I built the engine in my garage over the '09/'10 winter.  TKO 600 tranny & IRS rear.  17X8 w/245/45/17's on front and 17X11 w/315/35/17's on rear.  Lotsa fun; estimated 525-530 hp at the crank in a 2,300 lb car.  It did very well on the road course, but I haven't had it on the drag strip yet.  Its traction limited with street tires, but I'm thinking maybe mid to low 11's?

I'll try to finish the body prep this winter and get some primer on it.  Haven't decided if I'm gonna paint it myself or use a hired gun.

Our 1962 Mustang Bronco.  They were made in CA from 1947 to 1964.  They had several model names; Bronco, Pony, Stallion, Thoroughbred, etc.  They were quite the ticket, back in the day when everyone was riding Cushman's, before the Honda 50's & 65's flooded our shores.
