Oven cleaner, just be careful....only spray on pipe if you get it anywhere else it will work on that too. Even if you didn't want it to.

This is great advice do not spray directly on the pipes even a little overspray can cause big problems

I have heard a lot of products on this thread that work! But I don't want to carry a can of w-d 40 or brake cleaner on a road trip.
Most all of us carry some type of detailer, and whether its shoe rubber, Or something kicked-up  off the road; Tar, Plastic etc. I carry a small piece of aluminum foil, it doesn't seem to blemish the chrome, if used with a lubricant (a detailer) crumple it up, spray detailer and rub till  it comes off.

you guys need to scrap every idea posted here with the exception of the Oven Cleaner suggestions. TRY IT...  :-\  It really does work. spray it directrely on the boot marks, and even micro fiber towel marks, (i have my own story on that one too, isn't it amazing how fast one disappears on a hot exhaust  :P) let it soak in a few hours and simply wipe away.. It's that easy. BUT,, let it soak into the marks/stain, otherwise no results.  ;)

Tried it today, at lunchtime I sprayed the boot marks after work I removed
nearly all of it. Sprayed it again and I'm sure tomorrow morning it will all come
off. Good Tip!!!

Now keep them boots off the exhaust......exhaust is only for dirt and dust.

Buddy of mine picked up something at a rally, looked like a small deodorant stick. He said it takes the marks right off, no harm to the Finnish. I'll find out the name and post it later.

No boots, the trousers touched where front and back exhaust come together. I think
if i put the bike on the sidestand it happened.

Or just consider them beauty marks and get over it...cleaning takes too much time away from goofing off.   :drink: :drink:
