After the problems with 1.20.2 I think I'll wait a while on this update.

Well thats odd, I just went to HD and tried to look and see what the software fixes and it is still showing 1.20.1....  That is at 12:06 ET.

Never the less, I agree with Jerry, I think I'll wait a little while before trying it again.  Dave

Downloaded and installed. Boots up fine and everything looks normal. I'll get a chance to try it out on the road tomorrow. I'll report back if I encounter any problems.

Hi,

Do we have any idea what the changes are and when it will be released "officialy". Waiting for the ability to delete all my stored waypoints in one go rather than one by one.

Thanks

I have tried several times to down load it this morning.  Seems harley has taken it back down.  I did the proper cut and past.  Found on another site that HD took it down last night some time.

They didn't skip it. They had already released that but it was not a very good release. Caused the radio to have no volume and not work well...at random times.

I've been running 1.20.2 for about 2 months without the first issue, i'll have to read what 1.20.3 upgrades or adds before downloading it.

Not sure. Until it is officially released there won't be any documentation on fixes/new features. I've got about 800 miles on mine since I installed 1.20.3 and have not noticed any new features. Haven't had any issues either.

Looks like the update 1.20.3 has been put back on the Harley website. Just downloaded it, so will try it out later this week once the weather warms up a little.

I've seen several questions about what v1.20.3 includes. Just to recap, here are the change logs for both v1.20.2 and v1.20.3 (which primarily fixed the bug problems in v1.20.2), all of which should be included in this latest release. I rode for ~200 miles today using the newest release and did not see any problems, but have not attempted to test all of the new features. That said, we've not seen a clean upgrade release in a while (if ever), so be on the lookout for some undocumented "features".

• Radio goes to OFF mode when is USB removed during start

• Various fixes for blank or frozen screen issues during
operation in certain instances.
• Various bug fixes (I assume this is a loose reference to v1.20.2 bug fixes).

The Dealer Location Update file is new as well, so I wanted to offer one additional point regarding loading, as it is slightly different than v1.20.2:

- Download from H-D site
- Unzip the zip file: Harley_POI_Maps
- Open the folder: Harley_POI_Maps
- Copy BOTH the nng folder and swdl disc image file to your USB drive (in v1.20.2 we used the navisync folder)
- Load into your Infortainment system the same as the system update

Hint: If your Infotainment screen gets stuck on "Authenticating" when installing the Dealer Location Update, something has gone awry. Grab a(nother) beer and start over. Good luck!

I installed the software update yesterday, and it went well, as it had every time I have updated software.  Seems to work well, only tested it for 147 miles.  Big test next week as I ride to Key West and back.

I tried several times updating the Dealer location.  And yep I knew something went awry as all three times it got stuck on Authenticating.  Each time I tried different files.  So today, I will try as you state.  Hope it works this time.

I tired to update the dealer locations again with no luck.

I used the same USB that is did for the software update.  I did reformat it the same way I did for the software update.  Then I copied BOTH the nng folder and swdl disc image file to my USB drive.  This time it did not get stuck on Authenticating.  It after about two minutes came up with a navsync Error.

I wonder if this is because I am using a MAC book pro.  Software works fine on it for the last few years.  I know the Maps can not be updated with a MAC book.

You sure you reformatted the USB using the FAT format? That is the frequent problem when doing it with a Mac cuz it defaults to a different format.

Yes, the USB is formatted FAT.  I had to do that for it to load the software update, which was successful.  I just will not load the Dealer Location update.

Have been reading on another forum and it seems no one on that site has got it to update with a MAC.

I don't have a Mac to test, but have heard of those challenges. It does appear the Dealer Location Update is a NaviExtras product because it tries to reload it when I have been attempting to update my map. I didn't notice whether the NaviExtras site indicates it must be a Windows-based machine, but will check it out on my next attempt.

NaviExtras does not support MAC.  When they do map updates, I have to have my dealer do it because of that.  The software can be done on windows for the head unit.  Looks like because the dealer Location update is a NaviExtra product it will not work on with a MAC.

If you'd like to experiment, send me your email via PM and I'll send you the file. Would be interesting to determine where the incompatibility exists.

Installed dealer and Info update this morning, no problems but this was mainly due to the help from others on this site. I would never have figured out the dealer download and the need to open and copy both folders if not for posting on here.

Installed the update 1.20.3.  Seemed that there were no problems.  Now, sometimes when I start the bike the infotainment system goes to an FM station as opposed to playing the iPod even though the iPod was playing when the bike was shut down.
Title: Re: update 1.20.3

Probably a silly question but is this update a part of the warranty for a bike still under warranty or is this considered maintenance and the owners responsibility?

Just thinking if it is warranty I will not mess with it and just let the dealer take care of it.
Title: Re: update 1.20.3
Post by: KGB on February 01, 2017, 02:01:25 PM
I doubt that its covered under the warranty, I would think most dealers would update it for you at no charge if you purchased or service your bike with them, but if your not computer savvy, get your next door neighbor kid and have him do it  ;D
Title: Re: update 1.20.3
Post by: CVODON on February 01, 2017, 08:50:02 PM
Has absolutely nothing to do with warranty. I know the local dealer here will do it for you at no charge, but they take bike in like a regular service deal. May be hour or longer before the get it done (they start process, then go do something else, come back and finish when time).
Suggestion about getting kid next door is actually a good idea. Althought it is pretty easy, especially using suggestions on this site, kid would probably knock it out without help.
Good luck.

Here is a link update 1.20.3 this has not been officially  released yet
and I have not loaded yet use at your own risk.

You have to go to the harley download site click on the premium CVO radio link
and then paste the link below.

http://www.harley-davidson.com/app-content/audio-updates/swdl_boombox_6.5GT_CVO.1.20.3.zip

Not sure why the need to copy and paste. Went to HD web site, download correct file to laptop, unzipped it, moved files to USB drive, plugged it into bike and it installed perfectly.

I used it on a 500 mle round trip last weekend and there were zero issues.

Only real differences I noted were the turn now counts down distance with number fo yards and now a solid bar that gets smaller as you approach your turn at bottom of GPS screen and when I used to use presets (not global) with IPOD and phone, they would disappear when I unplugged the device. Now they all stay as created whether it it IPOD of phone.

HD says you can now zoom out further to view entire long routs.

Anyone else no of any new features with update?

Due to my have a MAC book my dealer installed the DealerLocation update.  Two weeks ago I installed the 1.20.3 update.  I have put 2800 miles on the bike with this new update.  Twice now after a phone call the Music stopped on my media player (iPhone7) and did not resume after the call.  I had to reselect my play list and start it again.  This never happened in the first 7200 miles, with the older software.

I was out yesterday and stopped by the local dealer.  I know I haven't done any radio updates since I bought the bike a year ago. . I saw the writer I usually see and he did it for me at no charge. .  He said it was the most current. . Rode it home without any issues. .  So far so good. . Stuart.

Not many miles on update but had first issue yesterday, rode over to my dealer and no music out of speakers, volume didn't matter, switching to headset and back to speakers didn't work. When I got to dealer and turned bike off, turned back on and music loud as hell. Worked great rest of day.

On my 14 cvo limited the avc (automatic volume control) can't be turned off.  In the off position it still curtail the volume significantly when stopped.
