I have a 2017 CVO Limited and I would like to add new slip on mufflers for a little louder, deeper sound. I'm not looking for any horsepower gains or anything crazy. My question is will I need to tune the ECM to match, and will installing them void the factory warranty??
-
That's a great question! I know the rule of thumb has always been you can do either a breather or exhaust without. The CVO already has an air cleaner but my guess is that since the bike is tuned for it, that the same rule stands.
I'll be watching this post.

You would see & feel a significant change with a proper tune on your bone stock bike... economically, install a set of FullSac CVO cores & tune with TTS & you'll be a happy biker
IMO the aftermarket muffler companies are getting out of reach with what you have to pay for them these days.

Thanks Mr D, however I have an opportunity to get a set of new mufflers as a promo because they want to put my bike on their calendar/website for advertisement. I'm hoping to get them done before Daytona in March. I can't release the make yet but they will definitely be the first of their kind on the market that I know of...I'll post pictures if it works out.

Even more reason to get the bike properly retuned for the new airflow change created by the slipons.
There is no shortcut to get around recalibrating a bike for its own ideosycracies and production variances.
While I can name more than a few dissadvantages to riding a modded, untuned bike, there is no disadvantage to getting your bike dyno tuned/recalibrated for best mileage, power, smoothness, response, and decel backfiring.
Dyno tuners are your friends and can make your bike run better than any untuned (canned map) bike with the same mod(s).

So I've been informed by the dealership that just adding slip on mufflers don't void the warranty and do not require a tune of the ECM. They even install them on new bikes for customers before they leave the shop, without a tune.
Thanks for all the input above...much appreciated! I'll post pics soon:2vrolijk_21:

I'd flip the tips over for a "Downward Slash" if it were me... Just my preference. They look like they are upside down :) :)

X2... agree w/you... if they are going to be slant tip exhaust I also think they look better flowing w/the lines of the saddlebags. :2vrolijk_21:

Did you get it to sound good? Everyone is saying that you cant get any sound out of it with the stock head pipe.

Sorry I can't figure out how to post sound clip but I do think they sound great under acceleration especially now that they are breaking in some now. I personally would like them to be a bit louder at idle but I do like loud exhaust..

So I guess my question is: Can anyone make a slip on that will give us the sound we are looking for, or is it just not possible with the stock catted head pipe?
-
I really doubt it with the cat in place. Those things are tight. I decatted and debaffled my factory setup and it made a huge difference.

I know they're not installed on the 114; but I'm considering these Slip Ons. Best sound I've heard online especially for the cost. Cobra Neighbor Haters.

Take off mufflers and start engine with carted head pipe only. There is your answer. Very little differance on my 2015.

I am sorry I am to much of an idiot to figure out how to post a video but I will say the CFR's on mine are quite a bit louder than that. When revving like this video they are fairly loud. They set off car alarms when going down side streets same as my Boarzilla's on my other bike. Of course not as loud as those (unfortunately) though my wife thinks they are when I pull up my driveway which has a steep incline. She also complains about how loud I play my music so not sure she is a good source for decibels. she said she liked the way my new bike sounded before I put on the CFR's and I screwed it up..

Thanks Man!! I tell ya man, pleasantly surprised. There's just nothing out there to help make a decision. The guys over at West End Motorsports were a huge help. https://www.westendmotorsports.com/

I ordered the Fuel Moto head pipe today. Even with the CFR slip ons I had to do something different. They use the stock heat shields which I like. Looking forward to hearing it when done, love the bike but hate the current sound!
