Legend Axeo vs Progressive Monotube
« on: December 26, 2016, 05:25:44 AM »

Just looking for some input before I pull the trigger on a fork rebuild....Is the Legend Axeo kit worth the over double the cost of Progressive's Monotube kit?? Progressive kit comes in around $360 and the Legend is around $750.

Legend has always been very "proud" of their products.

Yes they have but sometimes you do get what you pay for.  No personal experience with either front suspensions but I have had Legends on the rear of my last three bikes.

I went with the H-D premium ride cartridge system on my '12 vs the Progressive monotube (Legend didn't have their Axeos back then).  At that time I had read of several failures (leakage) on the Progressives and while warrantable you still have to remove / replace and be without while they are returned.  H-D's system was at least serviceable.  Back then a friend's wife had Progressives on the rear of her Fat Bob and had a couple of failures in about two years so that also made me gun shy of Progressive products in general.

Just put a set of Axeos on my buddy's 2011 CVO RGU and he is loving them.  All he's had before was stock so nothing really to compare to.  But Legend from my experience has superior customer service and warranty.  Personally I'd spring for the Axeos.

I'm in the process of installing the Axeo system on my 2016, I will not be able to tell you how they are for awhile, i'm also doing a few other things  and won't have the bike back together for a short time and then I will have to see if the weather will be cooperative. I will say I am familiar with the progressive cartridges, had them on my 2011 RG, they were an improvement over the OEM sytem at the time. I did get a good price on the Axeo's from an internet supplier ($660.00) delivered.
I'll update when I can.

My 12 cvo with Legends rear shocks is leaps and bounds better riding than my 14 flhx.  Only bottomed the rear 1-2 times vs every ride on the 14  I still prefer the 14 stock front end over the 12 cvo front end with progessives.  Looks better with the progressives but you can def tell the beefier front end on the 14.
