   temperature scale is on the right side of the pic, the tempurature on the upper left corner of the pic is the temperature at the cross hair target in the middle of the picture.

To the Original Poster
Nice pictures and all but without telling us which pictures are with and without jugs it doesn't make much sense. The oC will confuse half of us. A summary statement would be nice.

Summary: It runs 20% (?) cooler with the Love Jugs on.

When I read the title of this thread I was hoping that you mounted the $5000 Flir Head on your bike for nighttime deer spotting.

oC means degrees centigrade.
These are first pics and it’s of the bike running in the garage, I wouldn’t draw any conclusion about the how effective the love jugs are from these. They absolutely make a differance but I would like to get some numbers to substantiate that.
  I’m hoping this weekend the weather will be nice enough to go on an extended ride with and without the love jugs and post pics of the temp difference.
   Cooper has the 110 engine so he runs a little hot, I think it’s an exhaust issue. :)

I didn’t realize how inaccurate the cheap ir temp guns are until I borrowed the flir from work. I got a reading of 478 degrees on the rear cylinder near the spark plug with it. $6 compared to $5000.

The $6 gun will only give a sampling of an area. Most will have a graph on the side that gives the sampling area at a given distance. For what most try to use them for you are correct very inaccurate. Watch using the Flir or any IR camera against a shiny or reflective surface as you can get some very strange readings. Ever wondered how the all the ghost chasers on tv have the ghost images show up on the IR....lol.

Be interesting to see what the differences are in the after running down the road and stopping

478F is more like the exhaust port.  The $6 gun is good to find a large temperature difference but of course not going to do what the fancy pants IR camera can.

That seems low to me considering oil will run above 220+ degrees Fahrenheit.

These pics were taking after idleing for 10 minutes in my garage, i then turned the love jugs on, waited 10 minutes and took a few more pics. I believe (but not positive) that 150 degree celcius pic was with the love jugs on.
 If the roads dry up this weekend i'll take it for a ride with and without the fans and post those pics.
  I know the cheap IR guns arent accurate but it looks like it is 130 degrees hotter then reality when measureing the rear cylinder at the spark plug. I was surprised that it was that far off.....anyone want to buy a used IR thermometer?  ;D

The near exhaust pic is on cooling fins, almost the furthest distance from the flame propagation
The near spark plug pic, no cooling fins and closest to the flame prop.

The numbers seem odd.

The overall "scale" is lower, so the highest temp in view (whole screen) is represented by almost white.

You should get the same type of pic if you took a picture of the inside of your refrigerator with a glass of room temp water in the center (using 'auto scale')

Just wonder if the bit of reflectivity coming from the polished edge of the fins is what's throwing the numbers off.

You saying that reminds me of a demonstration that we had a rep from an upper end IR camera put on. He put a jar of water on a hot plate and dialed the range and span in correctly. As the water heated you could see the watered moving from the bottom to the top of the breaker as it heated. Once the class was over that day he left the breaker on top of the hot plate, turned off and cooling. The next morning he dialed the range and span back in, and even after 12 hours you could still see the convection currents in the breaker. Had no idea a camera could dial in that tight
