FLHRSE5 Windshield 2013 CVO Road King
« on: January 26, 2013, 10:45:28 AM »

Anyone out there know of a different windshield for the CVO Road King? The stock definitely cuts down the buffeting but the wife says she gets more wind than the standard RK.

I put on the traditional standard windshield that comes on every other road king.  i believe it uses the same detach connections on the bike.   i also added the traditional auxiliary lights.  looks pretty good.

I found a company called "Dragonfly Cycle Concepts". They have detachable fairings and they will color match and paint scheme. I might go that way.

Took a look at that Dragonfly, Simpleman 1025,

Thy seem to be able to cover a lot of needs. Hope it works for you!!

That's one of the advantages in the USA you got so many places to chose from you just got to pick one.

Here in the UK were limited. We have to search around forums to find a supplier, there far and few.

Hot spots like Dragonfly are no good to us as their USA only (bummer)

After two test rides (factory demo rides) I opted for the OEM Road King windshield. I'm 6'0" and need the standard height!

Been there, done that two or three times with SERK's. While it looks good, you've basically changed one of the most obvious styling differences between a $30,000 RK and a $20,000 one.

The mailbox windshield pushes all the wind noise past my ears so I can't hear the speakers. Owners either love the mailbox or get rid of it. I prefer the RK as a touring bike, not a cruiser. Style takes a back seat to function for me.

Style is primary for me, this is my Bar Hopper, or Hot Rod.  Already built the motor.  I have a Road Glide for my touring for the most part.

I am riding the King to Key west, after Daytona this week a 2200 mile round trip.  This stock shield will suck for that, but locally and on the twisty mountain roads by the house its great.

Still thinking of a better shield for the rare occasion I plan to ride it more than 300 or so miles in a day.

The stock windshield is very functional and it really does cut down the turbulance.

The thing that irritates the heck out of me is the vibrations and noise coming from that thing.  Soon as I touch it with my hand theres nothing but silence.  Let go and vibrations are back and is noisy as hell.

I've had the windshield replace under warranty for another issue but both behaved the same way regarding vibrations and noise.   Comes with the territory I guess.. :nixweiss:
