Hello All,
I just found out yesterday when I went to my local H-D shop to meet up for a ride. That a friend of mine had crashed his Red Jester a few days prior. Luckily it was a single vehicle crash where he hit some loose gravel on the side of the road and low-sided the bike and slid it over an embankment. For the most part my friend is ok, but he did recieve 40 stitches to the head and has large abrasions on his hands and arms. He Also broke 3 ribs where the left mirror got him. I went and looked at his bike and almost cried. I don't think a peice of painted metal or plastic wasn't scratched, dented, or broken. The initial insurance estimate was around $15,000. The bike was ridable because one of his buds rode it to the shop for him but it is a wake-up call. He told me it was the first crash he has ever had in 35 years of riding.

Gary,
He is a tough old Hawaiian/Portugee and he was down at the shop Sunday morning, just scrapped, battered and bruised. He was actually more worried about his bike. And that is the true sign of a healthy and speedy recovery. If he wasn't worried about the Jester then I would have worried.

Mark-
We all wish your friend the best and a speedy recovery as d00d said.

Mark,
Will keep your bud in my thought and prayers. I'm sure he knows he's lucky and of course the old line applies here - there are only two kinds of riders - those who have had an accident and those that will...
Glad he's okay. The bike can be fixed/replaced.

Hey Buddy I'll keep him in my prayers.

Wishing your bud a speedy recovery. Does he belong to the site?

I hope your friend recovers quickly. The bike will look better than before, now he can make the necessary modifications if he so desires. And...he'll learn from any shortcoming he may have had before the wreck. Just as easy to look at the cup as being half full instead of half empty.

Glad your friend is ok, It's always hard for me to hear of someone going down because I have been there and done it.
Dreading to look at the bike the next day, the best thing I found was to get back on a bike as soon as possible.

Heres wishing your friend a speedy recovery. It is always difficult to hear about this happening to one of our own, perhaps it will make one of us more aware of gravel during our travels & help us to avoid a similar fate. I hope your fried fully recovers & gets his bike back in new shape!

Best wishes for your friend !

Mark, all the best to your freind for a speedy recovery. Hope he'll be back in the wind soon.

Thanks for everyones warm words, and for an update the Jester will be in the shop for an estimated 3 months! It seems to take a while for them to get all the parts over here???? But you never know they could get the parts sooner, but knowing this place I doubt it.

John,
Best wishes to your friend, and definitely do try to get him to join the forum...now would be a good time for him to do that, we can help him rebuild his Jester. We have the technology, we can make it better, faster. :D Fortunately, he's on the mend. Bikes (even CVO's) can be replaced, but your friend never could be. Glad to see that he's up and about and healing.
Cheers :2vrolijk_21:,

Hey guys and gals,
I just worked a bike wreck with an 03 Ultra, head on with a Suzuki SUV. SUV turned infront of the the Ultra. Ultra was at about 35-40 mph, unknown on the SUV. The rider, a Harley tech at the local dealer, was life flighted to a trauma center. It was a customer's bike, they had just put on new tires. He was conscious, alert, and spoke about his pain, so that is a plusas far as recovery goes. I just wanted to say please be careful out there this season. BTW, the Ultra is totalled but probably took the majority of the impact from the rider and I will be shopping for a full face helmet this weekend as a result of today.
