Title: Loss Of A Friend
Post by: HogBreath on October 05, 2007, 05:11:24 PM
Here's a photo of my buddy Herb. Herb is a Harley rider and has been most all of his life. This picture is from the last time I rode with him. We went to Little Sturgis which is in Kentucky. The last few years he rode, he rode a trike because he didn't trust himself.

Herb passed away Wednesday afternoon, piddling around in his shop. Tonight I'll go to the funeral home and bid him farewall and give my regrets to his family. He was 78 y/o.

Used to tell him his bike had more wheels on it than a semi truck.

He'd had the voyager kit installed whenever he wasn't sure of his balance anymore. Anytime someone calls our UC's a garbage barge, Herb's words always came to mind. HD Ultra Classics are the VERY BEST bike you can buy. TOP of the line.

HB,

My condolences at the loss of your friend.  Most people have very few true friends.  It is hard to lose one...

Herb looks to be the twin of my wife's uncle Bobby who passed away last year also at 78 y/o.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and Herb's family.

Ken, I'm sorry to hear about your buddy Herb. Just lifted up his family and those who are effected by his passing. I can only imagine how many lives he touched in his 78yrs of life. Sounds like he was a Blessed man as you were too for God allowing your paths to cross in this world. Though Herb is no longer here may you remember the memories and character that made Herb a special man and buddy! God's love to you and his family!

Been away a few days and just read this!
I'll throw you right in here with me and say that we are at the age where we can truly treasure knowledge and advice from our older friends. Herb looks like he was a good one. I'm sorry for him and for you. I have had a "garbage barge" for the last twenty years and hope that I can be here as long as Herb so I can keep on riding mine when I'm 78.

and NO, I hadn't forgot your request.

Thanks for posting HB.  I'm sure the sudden news of Herb's passing made you think of the last time you had together.  This gives us all pause to remember our friends and family and potentially the last chance we get to interact with them.  Make each one special!   :cherry:

Sorry to hear you've lost an old friend, that still seemed to be full of life at 78. Passing away while piddling around his shop, sure could have been a lot worse and he wasn't in a damn nursing home.
