#1 son was on his way to work on some rural back roads around 4am and rounding a gentle curve when bambi came out of the tree line and t-boned him in the thigh.
The butt end spun around and smacked the back of the bike sending it on a rear wheel slide and him off the bike.
He tumbled, the bike tumbled. He is not to bad, very sore, nothing broken, some big bruises and swelling. He has yet to go see a medical professional.
I guess being a cop and a paramedic makes you smarter then the average bear - or at least deer.
Don't know the status of the bike yet and bambi is DOA.

Took the trailer to the kid's house Monday and carted the bike off to the dealer. For a bike that went down at 35-40 mph it is in surprisingly good shape. The most damage is to the gas tank (softball dent). The rest is mostly road rash, although it is from the front to rear on the left side. Yamaha Vstar 1100

I'm glad it was not worse. Not much you can do when they T-bone ya. Hope his bike is not too bad as well. Speedy recovery !!!!

Glad he wasn't hurt more. You're right, the bike doesn't look bad at all.
I had a close call about a year ago on my way to work riding my GL1800. (sold it when I bought the CVO) It was around 5:30 AM, dark road, 40MPH. I turned on my brights and about two seconds later I had two deer crossing right in front of me. They were walking very slow about two feet apart, but blocked the entire road with one in each lane. I took aim and went right between them and didn't even have time to slow down. The rear one actually turned it's head to the side as I passed, otherwise we would have made some contact. I count my lucky stars on that near miss.
Hard to avoid a deer that comes outta nowhere and t-bones ya. I hope your son is feeling better soon.

He is doing ok, just did his 2nd tough mudder event today, prepping for a 24 hour mudder in December.
