Title: My Friend Ben.. please keep him in your thoughts
Post by: 2018_FLTRXSE on October 06, 2013, 03:27:12 AM
On October 2, My friend Ben, who is a great bike wrench was involved in a wreck. He is currently in critical condition with a crushed pelvis and many other injuries.

Up until today he was going without pain meds due to blood pressure instability.

Fortunately he is a young man with a strong heart and should make a near-full recovery.

We are holding a fundraiser for him tomorrow at a local tattoo shop.

Just an update... Ben is progressing well... last I heard they took all the patches off his pelvis so its another 4 weeks of immobility.

They said he will be well enough to go home for Christmas, then to a Rehab center for some aggressive PT.

Just as an update.. Ben is still going through rehab but he is walking already, but still tires quickly due to pain.

He uses a cane most days but I have seen him without it.

He still cant ride his bike though... :)

Have Ben start his bike daily.  Just listen to the rumble...it will get him riding again.  Though my injury was not nearly as extensive as Ben's, thinking about riding aiding in my recover from Tibia Plataue surgery in early April.  Took my first long ride on the 4th of July.  Our prayers are with Ben for a full and speedy recovery.

He's part of a family of gearheads... so hearing the rumble isn't the issue.

Getting your pelvis crushed by a semi is gonna take a while to heal from no matter how strong you are.

Current update... Ben is back on two wheels and back at work!

Walks like he's got something stuck up his butt, but he's walking!
