Inspiring story of "road rash queen" Brittany Morrow and her recovery.
Photos are impressive and in the article if you click on her name you are taken to her MySpace site with more photos and info on her.

"Riding prepared for the worst possibilities will always protect you from injury in even the smallest wreck. " " I stress the importance of wearing full gear to each and every person I ride with, talk to, or even who happens to read my story. I believe that my experiences are a lesson to every type of rider or passenger. I would never wish the pain I felt and still feel today upon anyone in this world. It is completely avoidable with a few extra layers, and I can

Interesting, You've got to wonder what the F*CK the driver was doing going so fast as to blow a passenger off the back off his bike.

The more of these and rider down stories I read the more I realize how lucky I have been over the years to have only gotten hit one time and didn't go down then, luck and riding skill I guess.

I now ride with a helmet, gloves, leather jacket (aero in the summer) and now I am seriously condidering a full face helmet.  It just isn't getting any easier to be safe out there.

Aside from putting yourself in a bad situation which this one sounds like, it sure makes me think.

[smiley=cry.gif]OW! Crap! Long story, but I couldn't stop reading. Ow.   [smiley=stars.gif]
Wife and I have been tempting fate too long. Time to get serious. I wouldn't survive a get-off like Brittany did (especially being 40 years older than her).  Most painful story, and the pics... now I'm having ghost pains. ow.
Strong girl, though. Real strong.

Increadable read.  It brought back many memories of my own accident two years ago.  While I didn't have the road rash.........I had the entire left side of my body shattered from my jaw, arm and hip to my lower leg.  A little different in that leathers aren't going to stop broken bones but they do minamize the road rash.

For what it's worth, I do wear a full face helmet now.  I wouldn't of had the shattered jaw if I'd of had one on.

This girl is incredable.  I understand her need to get back on a bike, too.  I'm surprised at her age, that she's able to write about it so well.  When you read her story, you can almost feel her pain with her.  A gifted young lady.

Yes agree she is articulate and a brave gal.  Makes me kind of upset that her friend would allow her to get blown off the back of his bike like that.  Anytime I see a pretty young gal on the back of a sport bike (or any kind of bike for that matter) with no backrest it just makes me cringe at the prospect of that happening.

Wonder how many times that is a factor? Lots, I'll bet.

Say, I always enjoy riding/driving behind a sportbike carrying a comely passenger. The view is so much better without backrests or tourpaks!  ::)
Never thought what might happen if she blew off onto me...  :o

On both of these instances, seems the rider has their head up their azz. No feelings for their passenger. Should both lose their license.

I saw a video on the internet and cant remember where. Anyway, a crotch rocket with a girl in shorts and tank top. He's doing a wheelie and his partner is videotaping and he bounces down from the wheelie and she just pops right off! I cant even imagine what happened to that little thing. I told both my daughters never to get on a bike EVER! Crazy head up his ass teenager. I'll show these pictures to them tommorrow.

If it was my baby on the back I believe they would lose more than their license as I most likely would temporarily lose my Religion. [smiley=sauer005.gif] [smiley=no.gif] [smiley=furious.gif] [smiley=evil3.gif] [smiley=cry.gif] [smiley=beadyeyes.gif]

Kathy and I never had any children, so in my case the paternal instinct never kicked in. I do believe though if this had happened to my neice, things would probably be different.

:o OMG! I know this is old news, but not to me ... I just came across it. One of the most incredible stories I've read in a long time. I felt her pain and so happy for her to make a great recovery to enjoy riding again ... what a great girl! My accident back in 1997 was nowhere even close to her injuries, but it did lay me up for about half a year. I hope the a$$hole who did that to her was beat to within an inch of his life and has nightmares til the day he dies!

;D That one kinda yanked my heartstrings hard enough to make me tear up a little ... no wonder I shy away from that section! Makes you realize how quickly life can slap you in the face sometimes. I'm glad she didn't give up. Where is that highway 550 that she rode in her vid? The more time I spend on this site makes me more & more sorry I never venture much further than West Virginia ... so much in here and so many places I will never get to go. Cool that everyone shares all their trips and memories.

Updated info and photo here :

http://www.rockthegear.org/index.php?/inspiration/

Thanks, that was the one I read ... what a shocker! I kinda hate to say it, but I wished she would of dragged that azzhole off the bike with her. I never rode like an ass with a passenger ... only by myself. My wife never wanted me to get back on a bike after my wreck, but its in my blood. I still tell her to this day had she been on the back, it never would of happened. The day I quit riding is the day I quit living ... I love it!

Live and learn .... Since then I grew up and promised her no more fast bikes so I'm on my third HD. Fast bikes always bring out the kid in me.

Whenever I hear the preaching of the need for gear at all times, and what led people to believe it should always be worn, is almost always preceeded by some form of vehicular stupidity.

Do I partake?... sure.. I do stupid things too... but I wont blame the gear or lack of for the injuries.

The bad choice is what got you there... not the gear.

If you know youre gonna be out riding like an azz.. then please, dress appropriately. If youre going to commute in traffic, dress appropriately.

Though I did say "almost always", I have one friend that was simply riding to work one morning, when he was t-boned by a car. This was October of 2011.... he still hasnt been able to return to work.

The driver of the cage had no License, no Insurance, an Unregistered Vehicle, and No assets... This guy that hit my friend had no business on the road.

Yup.. in his case, the gear saved him, but he is suffering and will probably be in pain the rest of his life.
