2014 Breakout Colours - Anybody know?
« on: July 29, 2013, 05:40:57 AM »

Hi,

I have a CVO Breakout on back order, since September 2012! My dealer is very confident I will get one this year.  However at this time I have no information on the 2014 colour scheme for the Breakout.

Anybody know anything?

Thanks.

I am in the same boat as you but I don't think we will find out the colours or paint scheme's until after the dealer meeting in August

Thanks Rod and good luck with your choice of colour. I think we only have to wait 3 more weeks, and then the "pain staking" wait for the bike to arrive :-))

I've talked to a few dealers and I got mixed messages on whether or not there will be a 2014 CVO Breakout. Should know pretty soon.

I heard they are doing a CVO Heritage Softail this year.  I guess it's kind of like the CVO Convertible.

I guarantee there will be no 2014 CVO Breakout.
"Guarantee????"  So far it seems the only single year CVO has been the Vrod Destroyer and the Road Glide Ultra.  Can't understand why the MoCo would limit it to just one year, especially considering the hit it and the regular production model has been.

Ok I am guessing, but mark my words. I know there will be a CVO in the softail family. I just do not think there will be another CVO Breakout is all.

I think if there is a 2014 CVO BO, they may tone down the complexity of the finish and paint.  What they did with the 2013's was obviously beyond the capabilties of HD in-house, so they went to Gunslinger in Colorado.  We all know what occurred when a small shop tried to keep up with the quantity of work from a major manufacturer while maintaining the high level of artistry required to create the tins on this bike....

Now that's more believable but consider the work that went into the paint on the CVO Springer, that required a fair amount of work to do

The only 14 breakout I've seen pics of is the orange and black one that's been in HD's mailers. Nothing else....I wonder how many breakouts were sold this year. If the numbers were good then I'd expect to see another CVO unless they want to target the bagging community.

What leads you to this conclusion?

They always keep the Ultra and Street Glide CVO's, but they usually change up the Softail addition in the CVO class. As far as the comment on the custom paint, Harley usually has an outside vendor do custom paint jobs. Gunslinger is not the first outside vendor to paint tins for the MOCO.

then again they cancelled the CVO Street Glide in 2013 and had three successive years of the CVO Softail Convertible....

The guy at my dealer said the softail CVO this year is going to be a CVO Heritage Classic.

I believe this could be very true.  The Heritage Classic is a solid performer in the Softail family, and a CVO model would probably do very well in terms of units sold.

I like the CVO Breakout though.  But, I do think the receiving audience is smaller than that of the Heritage Classic.

Who knows?  All the CVO Breakouts sold, usually pretty quick too, but I could see a more 'standard' Softail model offered, with more of the P&A goodies being added at the factory.

Oh man, I hope they don't.   I want my bike to be ultra, ULTRA exclusive !!

Two Softail CVO's for 2014????????.....I am skeptical.... To me, it's all speculation until they do the unveil.....

The way the touring models sell, i would suspect if any line is going to get two CVO's for the same year, it would be that group.

Isn't it possible they had to submit specs to carb well in advance, and perhaps they submitted both the Breakout and the Deluxe, not being sure which would actually hit production?

It is certainly fun trying to figure out what they are going to do....

I think its safe to assume the CVO Breakout will run for three years, all with the Air Cooled 110Ci engine & Black will be in the line up

have they ever run any of the CVO series for less than 3 years

have any of the CVO Line up had an engine upgrade mid series

has black been in the line up for ever

I believe the Black / Silver  2013 CVO Breakout is the best of the bunch as Harley is known to be Black & Silver for ever, wish I got my order but I was one of the unlucky ones who had there order cancelled when Harley couldn't supply, at least I will have a 2014 build soon I hope :-)

OK, maybe I was being a bit selfish hoping there wouldn't be a 2014 CVO BO, in order to keep the number of them in the wild extremely low.

I wasn't thinking about you folks who were unable to get your hands on one in 2013.....

Fine, they have my permission to make a 2014 CVO BO   ;D

Thanks RedMoon - the sales manager from my local dealership is in Denver right now at the Global Dealer conference, ready to push the button on my order that has been on back-log since September 2012.  I just need to choose the colour!

I was way off, missed by miles I thought they all ran for 3 years  :(

CVO trivia is a tough game.

How about naming the 5 CVO models that weren't Screamin' Eagles?

Not a huge fan of the paint scheme.  It seems a little plain for a cvo.  If they were gonna play it safe, I would have mimicked the cvo road king 110th scheme.  It need to be exclusive, not look like something from the back of the hd fat book custom paint.  I hope they at least used the flake paint to make it pop.

Oh my....was just checking them out on the HD website....I know it's human nature to criticize something new and different from what you have, but boy it seems to me they "dumbed down the paint" this year....very simple paintwork....the sedona looks very similar to the available factory paint on the wide glide last year.  I'm with you on that Nicky.

I can't quite put my finger on it but it seems like the paint belongs on a different class of bike, like a sport bike maybe....Just does not look like custom cruiser paintwork....and way too much flake in the sedona for my taste.

However, I always like dark blue for a bike color and seeing the blue frame is nice...

I never have been a Deluxe fan at all, so I don't really have an opinion on that one.

But I am surprised there are two Softail CVO's....It's interesting they have "Softail" in the Deluxe name but not the Breakout....

When doing a 360 view of the orange, I do believe the wheels are not chrome?  I was wondering why they weren't jumping off the page....I do believe the wheels are all black with only chrome trim on the outside of the spokes?  They look exactly like standard production Breakout wheels with a few more spokes and chrome trim on the outside(not even chrome all the way around the spokes)

I know I have not seen them in person yet and you can't form  a full opinion yet, but boy....resale values of 2013's might have just gone up..   :2vrolijk_21:

I always thought that CVO's were the one place you could truly get away from this crazy fad of blacked out bikes, but it appears it has invaded our space.....

No brown seat on either of the 3 color options....black only...

Looks like they do come with LED headlights standard though...

And the orange has a black frame, just like standard production bikes, it appears?

Oh, and I MUCH prefer my Willie G skull on my tank as oppossed to the profile "Hellion" or whatever that is....

wow....

Z06 and Nicky youre dead right. The bike is a great bike but the paint and wheels are a let down. Paint is wide glide standards. I dont mind the stubby air pod but then again the long sleek look of the 13 suits better. I feel for those who missed out on the 13's. JMO

And, in one way, it's nice to see that they kept a lot of similarity to the '13...because hopefully that'll give manufacturers another kick in the A$$ to get more products out.

Not that Ruby really *needs* anything, but it's always nice to have options. I'm still waiting to hear back from Rinehart abouit their Crossbacks.

I kinda like the black/silver one a lot. But then I like any paint scheme that involves black and silver. The pattern on the seat also mimics the paint swirl on the bike, which is nice.

The stubby air filter though would be a good starting point to mod the new bike. The 2013 model version seems to go better with the overall lines of the bike. Also, if the wheels are indeed black/chrome, the 'now' old-fashioned '13 all chrome wheels look better IMO.

Hopefully other pipe options will be available now that we have more breakouts (e.g. Rinehart Crossbacks) and not every BO will have to opt for the v&h BR 2 into 1/2 (like mine and every other BO out there!). Diversity is good for the gene pool.

So to all future owners on the new cvo breakout, welcome to the family and you have a great looking bike. :)

as somebody who missed out on a 2013 build bike I can say "I AM SPEACHLESS"

just going now to look on the HD website to hopefully get I better view but from what I have seen above the CVO Breakout doesn't look any better than the "Standard Breakout"

the wheels look junk, the paint looks to basic for a bike of that price range, I think the Air Pod looks Oval & to big in diameter in the pic's a bit like a swollen thumb

the rest looks to be just carry over Breakout

I am saying here what I said on another thread (without any bias)- "No comparison between the 13's and the 14's".  The person that stated resale value should go up on the 13's I think hit the nail on the head.  Colors are nice, but not eye popping and the wheels-what the hell?  I should have bought my wife the gold model breakout when I had the chance.

I want to know who on this forum went whining to HD about how there was too much chrome on the 2013 wheels to keep clean, and as a result, they removed 90% of the chrome for this year....thanks to whoever you are    :P

I notice the frame isn't painted. They are all black. I like the fact that my frame is the same color basically as the polished part of the bike. I would like to trade mine in for a new one but I just don't like the paint. I do like the seat though and if they make them better than the one on my bike I may buy one as the seats on our bikes are chit.

Actually, the blue color does have a blue frame, which is why it's the only color that appeals to me.  I agree with you completely.  One of the things that visually sets CVO's apart is the frames painted to accent the color of the tins, usually whatever the base color of the tins are....that blue frame looks really nice....

I saw that. I do like the blue but I cant stand the paint scheme. When I saw that they were making a CVO Breakout for 2014 I was going to trade mine in because I was riding and got caught in a huge rainstorm. It didn't hurt it but Its just the idea but I would rather keep my silver and black.

Oh….  Well…

Many people dislike the new CVO here.  Well, I just bought one anyway, 60 minutes ago...  Living in Canada, it was impossible to get a 2013 so I waited till today to see its replacement.
After a couple hours of thinking, I chose the orange.  Since the wheels are black and chrome, I wanted a black frame to go with the wheels.  It also makes the tribal scheme less visible (my opinion).  On the blue one, the only thing that is black is the tribal... Difficult to miss...  Also, not many orange bikes around here and too many blues...  I could have chosen the black but...  Prefer the orange under the sun.

Love the oval air filter and the LED headlight and as soon as I get used to tribal paint, it will be the perfect bike.  Nan... Tribal is not that bad, wait till you see it live!
So now, I just have to wait one million years for my new toy to arrive!

BTW, my other bike is a Rocker C, and yes I Love it !!!    :-*

Hey, welcome and congratulations!  You may be the first 2014 owner to join our crew.  Don't mind us, we are just a bunch of crotchity CVO owners who think the old days(all of a year ago) were the best days   ;D

Typically, CVO owners ride their bikes.....a lot...in surveys done by the MoCo, they ride more than twice the mileage of the typical Harley owner, so while some of us bark about how the 2014 looks(me included), the most important element is how it feels and rides, and you will be in for a treat, my friend.

Tons of torque....great boulevard cruising light-to-light, thanks to all that meat on the rear end.  And for a low slung cruiser, it handles the twisties just fine.  Will probably be awhile before you get it(I ordered mine this time last year and got it the third week of October), but please do post pictures, and don't be a stranger in the meantime.  The 2013's and 2014's are mechanically identical, so virtually all of the information you read here from owner's experiences will relate directly to your new bike, so enjoy  !!

Congrats Dahsen. I actually think the new CVO looks great. I can't wait to see one live to better appreciate the unique and elaborate paint scheme. I personally prefer the simpler '13 paint job but I would have still bought the bike if the '13 version had the new paint scheme back then.

You won't have to spend as much as me on your bike as it already comes with the daybreaker headlight. Also, if I understand correctly, the '14 CVO BO  comes with LBS as well as ABS (I need to check into this to see if LBS can be added to my '13 CVO BO).

You might want to start shopping for the pipes now as I had to wait for a couple of months for them and the bike is just different with aftermarket pipes (much, much better sounding, runs cooler, and the additional power is noticeable.)

Welcome to the family!

Me too going to go for the Orange breakout, the bike grows on me the more I see it. bit surprised when I first saw it, did I really expect a copy of the 2013 bike. I am confident the paintwork will look fantastic when in the sunshine and specially with better photos, I don`t think  the photos I have seen do the paintwork justice. Been waiting over a year to order a breakout, roll on Febuary, when I finally take delivery. what a amazing bike :drink:  ;D

You won't have to spend as much as me on your bike as it already comes with the daybreaker headlight. Also, if I understand correctly, the '14 CVO BO  comes with LBS as well as ABS (I need to check into this to see if LBS can be added to my '13 CVO BO).

I don't think there will be a LBS on the CVO Breakout unfortunately...

The LBS is part of the Rushmore project and the only 2014 bykes that will get the package will be the Road King, Street Glide, Street Glide Special, Electra Glide Ultra Classic, Ultra Limited, Tri Glide Ultra, CVO Ultra Limited and CVO Road King.

Me too, CVO Breakout in Orange, roll on Febuary, I expect you don`t have to pay the balance until around January 2014. Looking forward to seeing that paintwork in the winter sunshine, what a bike, nice. ;D

A byke delivered in Quebec City in February... Hope mine will come with chains to try it during that period of the year!

BTW, orange will be incredible to watch under the sun !!!!  Nice choice, friends....    ;)

The others have them too, just that the clear coat has red/orange tint or blue tint.  Very cool.

It's 'Molten Silver'  Polished raw metal with clear coat.  It's interesting that this year HD does not talk about the, what the 20 step process, to polish the raw metal

Neither...  8)

I wouldn't have brought the 13 model CVO if the MoCo had released the std Breakout at the same time. Don't get me wrong as I love my CVO, as will anyone who buys a 14 model. But I'm not one for the pretty sparkly paint work, I just wanted a softail with a wide ass and at least 110cubes. The pretty sparkly paint just happen to come with the bike.

I would have been very happy with a 103 Breakout in Vivid Black with $24k in my pocket to play with getting it to go fast and look good. So far my CVO Breakout has cost me around $52k  :(

HA, Bretto, I love your candor!  But, I disagree here...there are several cruisers out there with a good deal of brute power, but are just hard down ugly.  I want the whole package, which is why I got the 2013 CVO.  Power, unique styling features, lots of chrome, and paintwork that is unlike any other, that's why I grabbed the crimson red as soon as I saw it.  As long as you are looking for all of those things, the 2013 CVO BO was a steal, price-wise.

Actually i like the 2014's less now having seen video from the dealer's meeting.  Way too much polished bare metal for my taste, on the tins. The wheels are much less of a standout feature than in the still photos...you hardly notice them since they are a gloss black....it's a real shame, IMO.

I have looked at them many times and there is just no rhyme or reason to the paint scheme...

I also didn't think the "stubby" air intake would make a difference to the look of the bike, but it does.  It's a small item, but it breaks up the low, long look of the bike to me.

But, hey, everyone has their opinion and we are all different, that's for sure..and I am pleased for those that have 2014's on order......

Some of the waits you folks on the other side of the world have to endure seem like forever......Feb and May of 2014?  Bummer....

I agree with Bretto on this and I would say none of the 3.  When I saw the crimson red in 2013 just in a picture, a tuning fork went off in my loins.  The same thing happens everytime I see a 2009 Springer CVO, but the 2014's just don't have that impact on me.  If I had not gotten a 2013, I would still have my 2008 FXSTC Custom, and $26k in my pocket, as i thought I had the perfect Softail with that bike....

BUT, the OP is asking what color would we pick if getting a  2014, and it would be blue for me.  I see virtually no cruisers out there of any make that are blue.  With a CVO, my eye is always drawn to the frame color and how it mixes with the chrome as it draws the lines of the bike, and the blue is just fantastic in that regard.

If I had to pick a '14, I would pick the orange one. The pic does not do it justice. The video is much better... But like many have said, I am glad I don't have to pick because I like my Gold '13 a lot better.
