Who all has a trailer for towing motorcycles and what city/area are you located in? If you don't mind sharing this info to possibly help someone if they break down on the road somewhere. We can keep the list updated here.
You can PM people before you leave for a trip, those who you see will be on your route, and get their number/contact info, before you leave. Or have another member's number with you, and have them contact the person from the list that's nearest to you, when you need help on the road.
*If members would update their location in their Member Profile, and put a "TRAILER" location pin on the MEMBER MAP too, that would be helpful when planning a trip, and when trying to find someone on the road. Modify your profile and set ICQ to 9999999 (thats (7) 9's).
MEMBER MAP is here: http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?action=googlemap

***PLEASE CONTINUE TO ADD YOUR NAME TO THIS THREAD SO WE CAN KEEP THE LIST CURRENT AND ACCURATE. THANKS ALL!!!***
UPDATE 1/15/09:
Glenn prepared the Updated CVO Trailer List and it's attached here. The following is our overview of how we see this. I hope it's suits everyone OK.
Now hear this all you “Kings of The Roads”, CVO “Trailers for Sell or Rent” (no not actually), but it’s an old catchy song by Roger Miller from 1965. All who have a trailer: “hear the call of the wild” from a traveling CVO’er, also because you have the “mind set”, a warm heart’s desire or (even a cold one) that would like to volunteer for trailering motorcycles near a city/area where you are located. You can do so by sharing some or all of the requested information on this trailer list in order to help someone if they break down on the road near your location.
Please consider sending (PM) your information to Howie or myself, (Ozzie) and we will include it on this CVO volunteer’s trailer list. You are not obligated to respond to a call for help, nor should you be treated as such by any CVO member. Your service support is only to be available if convenient, safe and able for you to do so at the time of another member’s call for assistance. We strongly recommend members to have other methods of towing support services such as: AAA, HD, AMA, etc. for Emergency services contacts in order not to inconvenient and unfairly burden CVO members with trailer.
Print this out and carry it with you on a trip.
Please note Trailer Kings: If you are not comfortable posting your telephone number on this list, let us know and we’ll remove it. But its very important info if we expect the list to be helpful on the road. A person in need can use your provided screen name to PM you if you have it removed. Or contact Ozzie or Howie and we’ll try to track someone down for ya. Neither of these methods would be nearly as effective as having phone numbers with you however. Also you can have your name removed at anytime by sending a PM to Hoist or Ozzie.
Members with Trailers can also declare their trailer availability and location in their Member Profile by changing your location pin color on the Member Map using the (7) “9”s in the ICQ code field. This will change your pin to pink; indicating that you have a trailer for emergency use. This would be helpful to other CVO members when planning a trip or who is trying to find someone while on the road.
There are many options to consider and privacy concerns that affect everyone’s convenience and safety. A Vital Note of Respect for all who have volunteered to work and should be the intended spirit from those of us who call upon our fellow CVO support members. We should all be appreciative and considerate of each other’s valuable time and effort in time of need.
Hoist and Ozzie are happy to keep this volunteer trailer list updated for all who dare to help someone in your time of urgent request for assistance.
TIA Everyone!
Glenn and Howie

That would only be helpful if they posted their cell phone numbers with it. That's something I'd be leary of doing in an internet forum open to outsiders. It's a great idea though. BTW, I live just off I-90 on the way to sturgis for you but I don't have a trailer.

I have a :trailer: and would be more than happy to assist ("if needed") a member of the site.
However, an investment in AAA Plus RV may be wiser than the time spent looking up the members on the trailer list if you are going to make a trip of any length.
While we do have members in a lot of places it would be just my sorry ass luck to breakdown in Bumf*^k Egypt. At least AAA will get you off the road and to the nearest repair facility (or any friends house within 100 miles) for no charge.
Just a thought.
Put me down for the 150 miles from Seattle to the Canadian border. Trailer currently set up for 2 bikes but within a couple months it will haul 6 with Condor or similar chocks. (and I don't need editorial about the 6 thing pls) 24 foot Featherlite enclosed with 2 5/16

Count me in too I am 3 hours south of Orlando and 1.5 hours north of Miami on the east coast.
Enclosed Haulmark low hauler edge with bike pros for 2 bikes. 2 5/16, elec brakes, twin axle 14ft torsion.

Ok, don't everyone get their guns out ready to shoot me, and I only suggest this because Bill (WFP) mentioned how the service helped him out this year.
Indeed it is nice that members are willing to help each outher out w/trailers, but more then likely they would be trailering you to a dealership for repairs. There is a service provided by H.O.G. called Roadside Assistance that will provide towing to the closest dealership also. The basic package comes free w/your H.O.G. membership and only offers one tow per year, but there are other upgraded packages that will provide unlimited towing/year plus lodging reimbursement. Maybe if Bill will see this and let us know what package it was he had.
Disclaimer - This is NOT an endorsement for H.O.G. only an option. :D

Standard Package (included with full and full life memberships)
Even though you may not realize it, as an active full or full life H.O.G. member, you're already covered by the H.O.G. Roadside Assistance Program for your Harley-Davidson motorcycle. The Standard Package is included with your H.O.G. membership at no extra charge. It's one of your most important benefits – and one we hope you'll never have to use. Active full and full life H.O.G. members may use the program once per year, with a maximum of $100 coverage for that occurrence. Road America offers telephone support 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, as well as various communication options for the hearing-impaired.
-
For a minimal fee, MAXIMIZE the Roadside Assistance Program to suit your needs – by upgrading to one of the following options:
Deluxe Package (optional – only US $19.95* per year)
Greatly reduce your traveling worries with the optional Deluxe P ackage, which adds the following benefits for up to two Harley-Davidson motorcycles:
•
Unlimited towing to the nearest Harley-Davidson dealership. (Please note that Harley-Davidson dealerships are not open 24/7.)
•
"Sign and ride" benefit (all covered towing/roadside assistance costs are covered in full)
If you are a full or full life H.O.G. member and would like to upgrade to this increased benefit level, please contact Road America to enroll. Certain restrictions and/or exclusions apply.
-
Ultra Package (optional – only US $29.95* per year)
For even more peace of mind, the Ultra Package option provides the same benefits as the Deluxe Package, plus emergency travel expense reimbursement up to the $1,000 maximum. You may qualify for the travel expense reimbursement if any of the following occurs: your covered motorcycle is disabled as a result of a mechanical breakdown of a warrantycovered component (still under the original Limited Warranty or Extended Service Plan) and is 100 miles or more away from your residence; or your covered motorcycle is disabled as a result of a collision, is 100 miles or more away from your residence and repair is delayed overnight due to the unavailability of required parts. Ask for full details when you sign up with Road America. Certain restrictions and/or exclusions apply.**.
-
I guess this should be the CVO package, evidently they know about Hoist's bike, see disclaimer at the end.
ULTRA PLUS PACKAGE (OPTIONAL – ONLY $49.95* per year)
Receive all the same protection and services the Ultra Package provides for up to two of your Harley‑Davidson motorcycles; PLUS extend coverage to up to three additional 'Covered Vehicles' (automobiles and trucks up to 1½ tons) for your family. •

•
if a battery failure occurs to a 'Covered Vehicle', assistance will be provided to either jump start the vehicle or tow the vehicle to the nearest authorized service facility (up to 35 miles)
•
extrication assistance
•
certain restrictions and/or exclusions apply.**
** Emergency Travel Expense Reimbursement benefit is not available by law to residents of New York and Tennessee.

The only reason that I joined national HOG. Is there another reason? :nixweiss:
As far as the road service goes........I was sure happy to have it when I was in po dunk, Idaho last year, on my way home from Sturgis when my cam chain tensioners decided to take a dump. Called the road service and they sent out a flat bed and hauled my bike about 80 miles to the closest dealership. That would have been a hefty little tow bill, otherwise. So I guess that $19.95 was money well spent.
Equally glad that I had the extended warranty on the bike! :2vrolijk_21:

It's probably a good idea to know what members you're going to be passing nearby when heading out on a trip, whether they have a trailer, or not. As far as cell numbers, there are enough people that know enough different people's cell numbers that sooner or later someone will be able to get ahold of the member. If you're going to have some unexpected downtime somewhere, what better way to make the most of it than by spending some time with a member of the site?!
My trailer is not as convenient as it was before we moved, but I can have it hooked up and ready to go in about an hour-and-a-half's time if the need arises. I've got a 1-bike enclosed Haulmark with a Condor chock. I'm located near Champaign, IL and the trailer is near Peoria, IL.

It would be up to the Mods to make a link to the spreadsheet data for members to access.

Once it gets to be any more than changing a post, we'll need a new archiver. Sounds like we need a computer dude to keep track of this now. Any volunteers? ;)

I ran out of allowable space in the first post, so I hijacked this post to continue the list. How do we keep this info all in one place? :nixweiss:
. . .
Howie, with the list getting as long as it is, you'd probably be better off putting it in a Word document and attaching to the original post. That would make it a lot easier to edit going forward, too. Just a thought. :nixweiss:

Better yet, could you put it into an excel file...That way we could sort by state, etc easier.

Agreed. I did not see .xls on the allowed file types when I made my original post, or that's is what I'd have suggested, too. Looking closer, though, it is there.

Neal, what sort of linking or other attachment options does the site have that we've never had reason to see from the civilian side yet? Anything that would allow for a live and viewable list in the forum area, gallery area or otherwise?

Howie,
I gots a pick-up with ramps for one bike in Eastern, NC (Camp Lejeune/Swansboro area).
Put me on the list too,

I have 28' enclosed trailer in SW Pa. 2 hours SE of Pittsburgh, 1/2 hour NW of Cumberland MD. Also have large shop if needed and a close friend owns 2 local HD dealerships (Somerset Pa, LaVale Md). Have extra room if needed. I could PM phone # if you would like.

Hoist,
I have already created a trailer Excel Spreadsheet for my HOG chapter. If you like I can give it to you or I would be happy to maintain this information for the CVOs.
As far as hosting this document I can either provide a web link to my shared server or maybe the Moderators can host it on this web site via a link and password, (if recommended or needed) since it may contain personal information.
Send me a PM to see my spreadsheet.

Thanks Glenn. If you'd like to take this over and compile the data in a spreadsheet, I'm all for it. I explained to the mods, that I can keep track of the info in the crude manner I created for this info here, Posts and Word. But if it can be made easier to keep track of and edit, and be made more accessible, that would be best for this valuable info.
Maybe you can forward the spreadsheet to the mods for review. I've already requested that this thread be made a sticky. They're concerned about my ability to maintain this info. Someone more computer savvy like yourself would be able to do a more professional job than me. I don't mind continuing it the way it is now. Any way this info can be maintained, would be a vauable asset to the members of this great site. :)

Howie,
Here's an idea. How about members that have trailers put that info in their profiles and make sure they have a pin on the map. That way if someone has a problem, the map could be used as a location tool. Maybe a new color pin for trailer owners. Doing it this way removes all of the overhead of upkeep.

Only problem with that is if you're on the road with out internet access. I'd prefer to have something I could print as a 'just in case'.

Howie,
My suggestion would be to put the file in Excel format without any personal information in it (personal info in posts (http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=13040.0)), and attach it to your first post. Don't be concerned about keeping the list updated in posts. If someone wants to use it more then likely they'll know where they are travelling they can look at who may be in the area contact that member by PM beforehand and get personal info to carry as they travel.
I doubt that anyone is going to be sitting on the side of the road pull out a laptop and try to get this info to contact a person then. :nixweiss:

This also may help in some contact being made beforehand to assure that the member may be available to assist. Without that someone may be depending on assistance and that member may not even be at home/in the area to do so. :nixweiss:

Not sure how possible &/or how much work it would be, but I think Chief's idea would also be very beneficial - different color pins on the map.
This should make it easy for members to update their own information. It would also be beneficial to look at the map when planning a trip -- you could write down a few names and contact info before hitting the road. And like Chief said, you can always get on a cell phone and make a call or two to get someone to look up new info while you are setting on the side of the road. Just my opinion :nixweiss:

The only problem with the map thing is we'll probably run into the same problem we are w/the "Member" map now. This is a linked map and dependent on someone else's (Google) software and upkeep. We input the data, but it's up to Google to keep it running w/o errors. Recently there has been days that the map hasn't worked.

How about doing this via Yahoo Groups? Accessible anywhere one can get on even the simplest PC. User creates his own login. Info is available only to those the group moderator allows to join (if you want it set up that way).
A group be setup. Members could request here to join the list. After approval they could then post in the group their location, trailer type and contact information.
From the road anyone could either have printed that out to take with them or find a PC anywhere and login to Yahoo.
-
I have created a new Excel spreadsheet with members information who have already volunteered to date.
I would like volunteer to coordinate and/or maintain this spreadsheet with moderators approval and support with the content. I have also included a formula on this spreadsheet that helps members locate a potential volunteer member with a trailer in the area/state of thier planned route.
Everyone has many good ideas which all could be helpful to someone someday.
Changing the colors of the pins is helpful for immediate identification as long as the web site is working.
Traveling member can pre notify or in case of an emergency contact The Trailer Volunteers if you have a hard copy and of course the trailers are available at your time of travel. Having a hard copy of this spreadsheet could be sent out to requesting members as needed or hosted on this trerrific web site which has given all of us so much helpful information along our riding CVO life.
Not sure who to share this spreadsheet with for review and consideration.
Anyway let me know if I can help anyone while passing thru, in or around NJ.
Ozzie as I am always doing "odd" things like buying multiple CVOs.

I don't think there's any maintenance involved on your (or any Mod's) part. Just thought it's a good idea for a few members to have these phone numbers, JIC someone needs to reach someone in an emergency. You'll either have a number or you won't. I don't mind having the numbers so anyone can contact me anytime for any assistance I might be able to provide. ;)

ok, how about a few volunteers, ( a say a few because there would be times when a single person would be out of pocket) that don't mind giving there number out. that could be a kind of answering service. that is someone breaks down they call him or her. he calls the nearest trailer, and gives the location of the broke down bike. don't know if this will work or not just throwing a suggestion out there.

Now hear this all you “Kings of The Road”, “Trailers for Sell or Rent” (no not actually), but it’s an old catchy song by Roger Miller from 1965.
All who have a trailer: “hear the call of the wild” from a traveling CVO’er, also because you have the “mind set”, a warm heart’s desire (or even a cold one) and would like to volunteer for trailering motorcycles near a city/area where you are located. You can do so by sharing some or all of the requested information on this trailer list in order to help someone if they break down on the road near your location. Please consider sending (PM) your information to Howie or myself and we will include it on this CVO volunteer’s trailer list. You are not obligated to respond to a call for help, nor should you be treated as such by any CVO member. Your service support is only to be available if convenient, safe and able for you to do so at the time of another member’s call for help. We strongly recommend members to have other methods of towing support services such as: AAA, HD, AMA, etc. for Emergency services contacts in order not to inconvenient and unfairly burden CVO members with trailers.
These volunteer trailer members and their information can be accessed from this posting several ways:
1. You can PM people’s screen name before you leave on a trip to those who are near your route.
2. Contact PM Glenn (Ozzie) or Howie (Hoist) to acquire their number (if provided)/contact information before you depart and/or during your route ride.
3. Have another member's telephone number that you already know, so that you can ask them to contact a member with a trailer who’s nearest to you; when you need help on the road.
Please note Trailer Kings: If you are not comfortable posting your telephone number on this list, do not; a person in need can use your provided screen name to PM you.
Only my telephone will be visibly placed on this list unless you agree to do the same. I did consider utilizing a Help Desk call center, but then your private information would be available to many people and costly. Plus this is not intended to be the primary trailer or towing motorcycle support services, only as a added option from volunteers who care and are available to provide some support service.
There are many options to consider and privacy concerns that affect everyone’s convenience and safety.A Vital Note of Respect: for this to work in the intended spirit of helpful CVO support, we all should be appreciative and considerate of each other’s valuable time and effort in time of need.
Hoist and Ozzie are happy to keep this volunteer trailer list updated for all who dare to help someone in time of need.
TIA Everyone!
-
Glenn - Howie, You both already have my number, maybe you can change the list to show that the "list owner" has the contact info. Asterisks in the phone field or something.
-
At this time the telephone numbers are NOT included only my number, because my mobile number is already published in 32 countries for my area of responsibility. So it is no big deal for me to share with others; plus I have the column "locked" so no others can be added.
At this time it seems like most of people will not be participating, so we can just leave this list as is for now and track the usage.
A CVO stranger is a Future New Riding Friend to me.

Hey everybody I think this is a great idea, as most of us are travelling all over North America at some time or another and occasionally may need some help.
For some of you who may own a BMW motorcycle and belong to the BMW Owners of America they have a BMW MOA Anonymous Book. It is published annually with updated information, it lists BMW MOA Members who are willing to aid and assist in cases of emergencies or just sociably. listings are coded by phone numbers only and indicate degrees of service, abilities. parts, etc. available to BMW MOA Riders requiring emergency help, simple directions or just a hot cup of coffee with a smiling friendly attached face. Their are over 12,000 + members listed.
What if one of the Moderators can start a Topic where we could advise what type of help we could offer i.e. tools, garage, tow, overnight accommodations etc.
Just a thought.

Glenn, it appears that we might need to put up a more recent spreadsheet. Post #1 of this thread:

Any additions since then? If so, please Email me an updated version, and I'll replace the one there now. Thanks. :2vrolijk_21:

ATTENTION CVOHarley MEMBERS!!!
Glenn and I are ready to pull the plug on this thread. When this first started, some became concerned that their phone numbers would be posted publicly here. So everyone that volunteered to be available to members in trouble was asked to privately get Glenn your phone numbers/contact info. This way, a member in need would call Glenn, who would in turn give you the info you need to get help.
As of now, we have an extensive Trailer List, with virtually no contact numbers. I just found this out as I was trying to have this info available for the York Trip next week.
THE TRAILER LIST IS USELESS WITHOUT CONTACT NUMBERS. THE CHOICES ARE GET GLENN YOUR PHONE NUMBER ASAP, OR WITHDRAW FROM THE TRAILER LIST. IF WE DON'T RECEIVE NUMBERS BY NEXT WED, WE'RE KILLING THIS THREAD, AS IT WOULD HAVE NO VALUE TO ANYONE. IT'S TIME TO CHIT OR GET OFF THE POT. THIS WAS VERY DISHEARTENING TO FIND OUT, AS WE WERE CONTINUING TO TRY TO COORDINATE THIS FOR YA'LL. BUT WE CAN'T DO THIS WITHOUT EVERYONE'S HELP. YOUR ACTIONS WILL NOW DETERMINE THE FUTURE SUCCESS OR FAILURE OF THIS IMPORTANT CVOHarley PROJECT!
Thanks for reading this. Let's see where it goes from here.

Agreed. Only provide your name (or screen name) and city. We can get each other's info privately, as needed. :2vrolijk_21:

Don't be disheartened Hoisty, this was the last I'd (and probably most others) seen on this. :nixweiss:

I don't know if all of the new members are aware of it, but if you have a trailer and would like to offer it up to help other site members, you can place a trailer icon pin on the member map simply by placing "9999999" in the field for ICQ on your member profile. The standard pin will be replaced by a little trailer icon so everyone can see that you have a trailer for emergencies.
As long as someone on the site knows how to contact you, your trailer offering would be a great benefit for a member in need.

That's fine if that's how we want to determine where trailers are. I wouldn't want to be stuck on the road, and rely on push pins and some body knowing somebody, for me to get help. I'd prefer to simply look at a list and make a call. But there's no reason for Glenn and I to maintain this thread if we use the push pin method as our basis. You guys decide what you want to do. But if youze want us to maintain a contact list, GET US THE PHONE NUMBERS BY WED! ;)

Works for me. If I break down, I call AJ and he puts out an APB for a nearby trailer. It's so easy even a caveman could do it.

Again, Like I said though, decide what to do about this thread and us maintaining a list for the site. Nobody's forcing anyone to do anything they don't want to. This is about whether or not youze want Glenn and I to maintain this thread/list. That's all. And I repeat, this is where we're at:

So, numbers by Wed, or the list gets withdrawn and we can rely on Chuck's method. You're all big boys and girls now. We won't put the time into this without the group's cooperation. Like Bob said elsewhere, "we're not babysitters". We're just trying to do something helpful for our member's benefit. It's that simple! ;)

This apparently is important to many members. Between PM's I've received, and the ones Glenn's informed me about, we are starting to collect some phone numbers. Keep em coming. Glenn will be PM'ing ya'll if he doesn't hear from you. We're doing everything we can to keep it alive and make this campaign successful. We need EVERYONE'S cooperation for it to work across the entire US and Canada! Thanks for bearing with me on this! :2vrolijk_21:

Just so ya'll are aware of what Glenn and I are up against. We have 51 people with trailers on the list. BUT WE ONLY HAVE 7 ASSOCIATED PHONE NUMBERS. We've subsequently received a few more, but I don't believe we have more than 10 or 11. Please check the Master List in the 1st Post here. You know if you're name appears there, but didn't furnish a number. We hope you'd like to continue to volunteer your assistance in an emergency. But to do so, WE NEED YOUR NUMBERS! Thanks. :2vrolijk_21:

FIRST - Hoist and I want to THANK: Greg, Hachsaw, MJZ, Hobo, Chief, Talon, Trapperdog, Abbynormal, Muffman, Dreid3667, Tompen and many others who have already responded professionally and quickly at the call to support you with their CVO TRAILER. (So far 51 have signed up across the country including Canada and someone in northern England.) THANKS for Volunteering to help these CVO riders who may not want to admit it; that someday they may need our help, especially with the new SE 110s.
Only my mobile telephone will be visibly placed on this list unless you agree to do the same. This is not intended to be the primary trailer or towing motorcycle support services, only as a added option from volunteers who care and are willing and able to provide some support services for you during a time of urgency.
A Vital Note of Respect: for this to work in the intended spirit of helpful CVO support, we all should be appreciative and considerate of each other's valuable time and effort in time of need.
Hoist and I are happy to keep this volunteer trailer list updated for all who care to help someone in time of need.
We will be there for them...My motto is: "Have Trailer will Travel or Park"
TIA Everyone!

BTW, while we're thanking ya'll for this, there's another member I wanted to personally thank too. He came up with this idea in the first place. George (vags) made the original suggestion in another thread, about CVO Owner/members could help one another if there was a list to go to. This was after a disabled CVO'er who relied on another CVO'er with a trailer to get the disabled bike to a dealership. This is how it all started, and now it's developed into 51 trailers and growing. Keep em coming guys. You never know when you'll need it! Thank you George!!! :2vrolijk_21:

I'm really set now if you haven't seen my posts in the Sedona chatter or in a trailer thread I have the 24 Featherlite set up for up to 6 bikes now and tow with a one ton crew cab Dodge Cummins.
Just remember that old tune "I'll be there", if I'm available and even if not my staff can make a run for any of you that needs it. Seattle north for sure, then just let's figure out if we are the best solution east on Highway 2 and 20 or even lower BC if you have to get back to a USA Harley Dealer for warranty.

Great of you guys to do this! Once funds permit, we'll be getting a trailer and will join up. Another justification to get a new toy!

Don't have a trailer (yet) but have a Suburban setup in case some one finds a trailer to use and need something to pull the trailer.
As a side note in case you need a trailer and cannot find one near you, UHaul 5'X9' open trailer has a tail gate ramp, very easy to load one bike, a hookup in every corner and is only $25 for a day.

JBBROWN73, THEDUGANS, ROADRUNNER, SPORTYGORDY this is great that you are joining the list of us "CVO TRAILER TRASH" riders. So far, our trailer club is up to 57 trailer support volunteers across this great USA & CANADA too.
Please be sure to mark your Personal Profile with the seven "9" http://www.icq.com/whitepages/about_me.php?uin=9999999 just next to "ICQ". This will mark on the web map that you have a trailer for emergency support purposes only.
Any CVO member can contact you via a PM or by calling Hoist or myself for your personal telephone "IF" you wish to provide it to us which we keep on the spreadsheet. Please PM myself and Hoist if would are OK with provide your telephone to us only for the trailer contact records.
Thanks again for helping all of us while on THE ROAD to a GTG.

OK, this list has mine and Glenn's number's on it, but to protect privacy, everyone else's number is "blacked out". Personally, it will be cumbersome to try to help in an emergency if only Glenn and I need to be contacted, to contact a nother member near where you might need help. I'd frankly like to see all the phone numbers on the list included. If we use only cell phone numbers, it shouldn't impact privacy. Please post if you're on the list and object to your phone number included. Or PM or email Glenn if you'd like a different phone number listed due to privacy issues. Thanks gang! :2vrolijk_21:

If I may ask, why post it as a pdf?
Why not? The original is in Excel so we can make running changes. Then we put an uneditable copy up for ya'll. What's wrong with that? But you're more than welcome to take it over if you have a better way. :confused5:
Hoist! 8)
-
Just asking, that's a good idea to keep it "uneditable" by the masses. I was only thinking that pdf files get big, and some of us out here in the boonies may not have broadband. I don't want to take it over, but I would be glad to contribute in any way that helps everyone. There are times that I don't get to the computer for a week at a time.

Someone good with the Garmin software should make it a POI file. I've never opened one up but they can't be any more than a very simple database or spreadsheet format of some kind.

I believe I've read that POI's are based on a excel spreadsheet. :nixweiss: I think it would require getting the Lat/Long of the address to go with name/address' and then converting them into the appropriate file extension.

If the address is known coordinates are no problem. I think the Streetpilots will already extrapolate one from the other. If not there are websites that do.

I think it's a lil weird to have just Glenn and my phone numbers listed. I think we should put the master list up with ALL the Phone Numbers on it so people can just copy it and take it with them on the road. You guys still have an aversion to having your cell numbers listed here? :confused5:

Great job Hoist and Glenn! :2vrolijk_21: I would be okay to have my phone number listed. It would make the list a lot more useful when you're out on the road.

TODAY'S UPDATE:
Glenn prepared the Updated CVO Trailer List. Refer to Post #1 for the Excel List of Trailers and Thread Details!
Neither of these methods would be nearly as effective as having phone numbers with you.

Hoist, send me a PM and you can add me to the list. I have a single enclosed trailer and a 2-bike open trailer located in NW Georgia. Convenient to NE Alabama, Eastern TN, the northern half of Georgia, parts of SC and NC. If no one else is available, I'm a pushover and a softie and will bail them out as long as my kids don't have something planned or I'm not off somewhere myself! I don't like the excel spreadsheet being available publicly, though! Kind of scary! Can you download it if you're not signed it since it is under OTHER TOPICS?

If you're speaking of the file (its now pdf) in the first post it can be downloaded by non-members.

I really want to help if I can because I've been stranded on the side of the road before when we ran out of gas in Atlanta, but at the same time, safety is a concern! So, if you could convince Naitram to move it to one of the other boards where you at least have to sign in to get it, that'd be great!! In fact, I'm going to copy him on this message just for that reason. With today's technology and the internet, for all of $9.95 you can go to intelius.com and some of the other sites and type in the cell number and get the billing name and address. I've almost decided to send everything to a PO box just for that reason. So for a couple hundred bucks, someone could have a list with the location of some of the nicest Harleys in America. You know what I mean? That is the reason I never post my name - first or last name on the forum! My name is unique enough that there is only ONE of me and if someone googles me, they will know where I live. So, if I posted my name on here and they pick up my name from this site, they'll have my screenname. The concern there is that I already use the same screenname on MySpace and other forums. Let's face it, there are a lot of crazies out there and if they google "TheVgirl" they will find it here with my phone number. So how can we keep that from happening? Can we post it in the CVO Only sections where you at least have to log in to get it? Also, I know IP addresses are logged with every posts. Will the IP be logged when people download the file just as a precaution?
Thanks,
V

I'm an Australian Rugby player...at least if you google me. But I'm also public record for the most part (there is stuff from me all over the place if you search hard enough).
Sean M. Cary - bugger even stole that good Gmail account sean.cary@gmail.com was taken when I wanted it.
But I do see your issue, do you have Equifax or lifelock? I had my CC stolen a few years back, put Equifax Gold in place right after that. Any changes to my credit gets me a quick e-mail, balance change, credit pull - anything I get notice. Worth the $100 or so a year.
Not gonna stop someone from finding your house/address, but a diligent search of court records and some good guessing/logic and they can find you anyway. Past that they find where you work, do a social engineering call to someone and odds are a co-worker will give them enough to find you.

I just came back from Raleigh NC visiting my one and only Beautiful Daughter where she is having a baby next month, another new natural born United States citizen. (Oh yes, I heard that we are not permitted on this web site to say that we are US Citizens or Americans) If so, then it is sad to say, this web site has lost another part of its integrity and is turning into a socialist state.
I will back down again around March 20th hopefully to see my new born Grandson - Born In America. I am proud to be an American US citizen who has fought and seen good "boys" die on foreign lands fighting for the freedoms that we enjoy to date.
Based on this i expect a Moderator to excommunicate me from this group...

If so, Not so! then it is sad to say, this web site has lost another part of its integrity and is turning into a socialist state. Come on Ozzie, you know better than that.

Based on what? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?
The rules of posting for this site are for everyone, they have not changed to single you out, If you have or would read them you would know that.
So Ozzie, keep us informed about your daughter.
Let us see pictures of the grandchild!

Thanks Chip for your clarification and i hope you are right...because i believed this organization was not about politics nor religion, but pure CVO motorcycle support and information.
Unfortunately, what I heard was the moderators will "pull" and ask you to stop posting if you mention that you are a proud USA citizen.
I will not mention or post on this subject any further, because of your help.
Thank you.
