the battle of the bug! eventualy they will rule the world. in the meantime we have to clean them off of our bikes. i personaly like to use hydrogen peroxide. i spray it on them and they foam up a little and seem to come off easier. [smiley=banana.gif]

I keep a good coat of wax on the bike, then use spray cleaner and spray wax after each long ride. It takes only about 5 minutes and the bugs come right off.

the solution found in dryer "smell good rags", like bounce or bounty proves to be the best liquid to remove bugs off the bike>
wet the small pieces of the rag and just use the liquid from the material, don't use the rag to remove the bugs, as they will stratch your windshield or paint job!!
it does not have too much effect on chrome parts.
here in the deep south we are plagued with the worst form of bug imaginable!!!
the dreaded black love bugs, this pestilence appears in louisiana twice a year, in the spring and in the fall! they are nasty and smell even worse! :D :D

I've found that a good coat of Rejex http://www.corrosionx.com applied every four months does wonders for making bug removal easy. After riding, I let the bike cool and then spray the bike with water. The bugs fall off. Figure this stuff was developed for aircraft. It works great. Even on love bugs

I cant believe it! A topic on bug removal and only 4 posts? Man vs Bug, A never ending battle. I have a friend that swears by the Scunci Steamer. It is a small electric handheld steam machine. He claims the bugs just melt away. Works great when the rest of the bike is clean and bug removal from fairing is only needed (not wetting down entire bike and having to wash and dry everything). I have not bought one yet as I live in Wisconsin and didnt hear about this until after my scoot was in winter hibernation. I will be buying one in spring. They cost around $40 on ebay.

I found the Moco Bug Remover workd pretty well. Spray on, wait and rub-off.... [smiley=orange.gif]

Nice tips...But my question is...How do we kill the bugs so that they do not hit the bike to begin with?

Last week's warm streak saw me riding alot..........and smashing the occasional bug. A few posts earlier in this thread I mentioned using water to hose of the bugs on a bike after using RejeX on the paint. It doesn't work so well if you let more than 4 months go by without reapplying RejeX. Such is the case for me at this time, since I waiting on new paint. Anyway, I used ammonia free Windex and a wrung out wet microfiber cloth to get the bugs off, and it worked great.

No......they just come off a little easier, but it still takes a little less work.

Love bugs most definitely suck. Nasty little glue bottles with legs & wings >:(. They will stain paint if not removed promptly. I used Vaseline on the front of a car once when living in GA. Worked but was a pain to get off. Japanese beetles stink too.
