The guy bought it to tour, but never did, and just rode his softtail instead, so it sat in his garage.

It also came with the tourpac, origional finn mufflers, cover, bla bla bla, its like a time capsule bike! so Im happy but, the techie in me keeps thinking about that new frame!!

I dont love the cd changer in the tour pac because, i use mp3's now, so its just wasted space back there, plus the radio with the tape player is outdated , you cannot plug in a 1/8" plug there , even though it has the port, because it does not function on that model.

and the ABS and brembro combo sounds awsome.  BUT, i will probably ditch the idea that it is a rare and valuable bike , and just remove the stuff I dont like and add the stuff I do!!!

I wouldnt be surprised if its the lowest milage 01 in existance. or was because now it has 1650.  It had the origional Dunlops which i was concerned about but my local shop said they were good! no dryrot, cracking or otherwise.

STOP! You're making me jealous! I rode the '09 RG & the '09 SERG. While I noticed a difference in the frame from my SEUC², I don't know if I'd buy one solely for that reason. Likewise for the Brembro's or the ABS. There's just not enough for me to warrant a change. However, if I was starting all over again...??? Who knows?

Hey Brad,

Im not sure that is correct because I met a fellow on here, and he did try the 1/8 plug , when his tourpac was off, and it still did not work. I looked online for a solution to that but couldnt find one,  I may just swap the stereo for a 05 single cd model which has the working jack and just remove the 12 disk changer.

You may want to take a look at these two threads...

iPod question

What is the hole/plug in the front of my radio for?

Oh yeah, anyways - the stock radio has a 4 pin pigtail that connects to the changer out the back of the radio.  This pigtail defeats the 1/8" stereo pin jack on the front.  You actually can connect a set of wires to the pigtail to accomplish your objective of connecting the iPod (you can purchase the opposite sex connector at your dealer and solder a couple of wires on to it).

I don't proclaim to know anything. I do know that I like the original Screamin Eagle Touring bikes. I think you did well for what you paid and what you have, an original classic!

I agree if the cards would have played a little different I would have Purchased Carlos's 00 Triple Red.

What I really wanted was an 09 SESG... But, since they haven't made it yet, I just got the 09 SG and had it built the way I wanted it. After seeing so many issues reported with the 110 motor, I took the safe route and had them do the stage II kit (103/255s). I added the quick detatchable hardware and got a matching tourpac, backrest, racks, etc, etc. I just love the bike. The 09 really is a big improvement and fullsac baffles with a TTS makes it run like a dream.  It coverts from an around the Hills explorer to a long distance traveller in about a minute. And probably cost me about the same as a 2010 SERG will likely cost...  :2vrolijk_21:

Money's one big factor...I really would love to get an '09. Mrs Fester's a rider herself, but she's skeptical about a m/c that costs as much as her car ('07 Daytona Charger).

Another is that I'd like a bike to tinker with and personalize. Seems like I'd have more to work with on the '01; I'm just leery of getting a bike that may have been rode hard and put away wet. I've bought plenty of used bikes, but it's hard to do too much to a bike in a year or two that wouldn't be too obvious. But over eight or nine years?

Thanks for the inputs, gentlemen. I'll keep the eye on the "for sale" section.
