One 'minor' step away...
« on: February 02, 2009, 11:23:46 PM »

Well...

Progress to be sure - so far the mods are as follows:

* Windshield
* Garmin Zumo 550
* Tender and Gerbing suit wired
* Heal rests
* Sissy bar w/luggage rack
* D&D Boarzilla w/performance baffles
* Lazyrider barrel bag
* Leatherworks saddle bags w/easy mount brackets

Still to come - pistons (deciding on compression leaning toward 10.8:1 - springs/guides etc), Porting and wood cams.  The goal is to maintain the reliability but 'wake' the motor up a bit.  Not after big numbers, but a change in the power curve and some additional power will be a nice plus.  Reports on this configuration are in the 125/125 range which should make for a very solid rider.

Not confirmed tho - more research underway.

In the meantime, here's a pic of the visible stuff!

Nice mods! Well thought out and implemented. Fun to personalize the ride isn't it?

thanks for the compliments - to respond to the above...

nah, not my track bike pictured - those are in the other bay!

yes, very fun to personalize the bike

Last.. sad to admit, the older I get, the more I think bikes look their sexiest when they are battle proven with about 100000 hard earned miles... Looking forward to making THAT modification !!

More to come - motor's next but not until early March  8)

Mods. Is why 75% of us buy Harleys? Maybe not to start with but sooner or later we all end up doing some. And some of us go over the top with it!!!  What do you all think???

I've owned four Harley's (two Sporties and two Road Glides) and I'm about to trade for my 4th (2009 SERG). Every one of them has had mods. So far, it's been more mods with each bike. However, the SERG will break that mold since it already comes with so many "extras".

Now, mind you, I'm not saying it won't get any mods. Some are already planned. But I won't be modding at the breakneck pace I did with my '07 FLTR. I spent as much on mods as I did on the bike... before I signed the deal!

CVO is a MUCH nicer way to go!

the bags look really good.....but why do you want to crack the seal on that engine and void your warranty......all I did was slip-on's and it still screams at 15K miles.....

Yea, I've been thinking about that too.  It's not under powered per se - but the added oomph of compression and cams is pretty impressive.

But I've got a couple more months of riding before I get really serious about motor modding - it rides really nice so I may opt out.  We'll see

I just ordered the Mustang touring seat - poor bike is gonna get ugly fast, but for me, it's about riding so... touring seat it is.
