Paul Yaffe Monkey bars
« on: September 08, 2013, 01:17:51 PM »

I am thinking of going for the 10" Paul Yaffe Monkey Bar for my bike (OEM-10-C). I know next to nothing on what it takes to do this if I don't go with an HD option, and even then HD does not offer up anything for the FXSBSE. I have read all the various topics regarding ape hangers and the Breakout. But I seem to be alone in my decision to go with PY. I know I need to worry about the internal wiring and the new break/clutch cables. There is also the tach/speedo mount issues.

Has anyone else considered PY monkey bars, and if so what are your thoughts?

If this gets to be too much as far as mods, I would appreciate any suggestions/opinions/etc. regarding 10" ape hangers that fit the bike.

Thank you in advance.

I'm kicking around the same idea.  Stock bars are too low and too far forward.  My only thought is, I'm not sure if Yaffee offers the center clamp area in a 1.25" diameter.   I've heard that there is a spacer that can be purchased to solve that problem.  Just wondering if anyone has had any problems with the adapter?  Maybe someone will jump on here and let us know their results.

I like the buckybars option! I can call them tomorrow to see what they know about the breakout/fit/issues/etc. I know in one of the threads there was info on the spacer for the 1" center. Just can't seem to find it. I'll keep searching and will post the link here on this topic for future reference.

I think Bukybars would make them 1.25" all the way through and solve the problem.

Wild1 makes a 1" to 1.25" adapter that should work.

Before considering Yafee, search threads by people trying to install themselves and shops not willing to install their bars due to less than average construction.

IMO, you'd get a better bar w/ BR's, Buky, Carlini... and more options for your style...
