So I was just told by a friend the dealer stated they are no longer making the Scorching Yellow/Starfire Black because of issues with the paint. Has anyone else heard the same thing? And if so does anyone know how many they ended up making?
-
Yep, heard they stopped the run of the Yellow, dont know why or how many were produced in that color.
-
I viewed one in the yellow/black and thought it was fairly unique and nice looking. Not great news - it must have been especially problematic for the MoCo to stop producing this version. More likely would be they keep selling and let the customer haggle it out after the purchase as they've done many times before.

I saw this colour at the dealer and it was very striking and if you like yellow go for it,
However personally I don't think they had issues with the yellow paint as it seems all the colours have paint issues ie, runs in paint, over spraying etc etc.... That's just down to the dozey chimp (or machine)doing the spraying ,give him any colour to spray and if he's useless he will f*ck it up every time!
I think they stopped production of the yellow purely because they have filled there quota and that's all they were going to do anyway, maybe they knew from passed years it maybe a bit of a "bogey" colour so kept production numbers low....... The yellow one I saw the paint was perfect on it.

The dealer I goto in Huntington WV told me the same thing. No longer in production. As of last Saturday the 15th they still had 1 Yellow SG in stock had it for about a month now.
-
Hmmmm...... A month you say! maybe as I say it's a bogey colour, together with the star fire black they could be the two tricky colours to shift,,,, there could be a deal to be had if you sit tight!
-
I have not heard of or seen any deals on a CVO. They said it will sell. Once the word gets out its been discontinued the calls will start coming in.
-
I think it's the second best looking color combo.

I was told by the Terra Haute dealer that the yellow one was the least in demand. The black one was the one in most demand and all the dealers were scrambling to get them. This was in September just after I got my blue one. He also said there were other dealers calling around looking to trade yellow ones for ANY of the other three colors. He had a yellow one on the lot from his first 2015 delivery with no takers.
-
Maybe the other colors were going to be an easier sell. I saw a yellow once and it looked amazing,, but most people want the other colors more. :nixweiss:

That is one way to make sure it sells, tell the public they can't have it anymore. ;)

Good call. :2vrolijk_21:
Back in 2011 the talk was about the green CVOSG. They could not get it.....paint issues.....not going to make it....blah, blah.....I believe H.D. generates these rumours to get people out there to buy now or at least commit to buy with a deposit.
H.D. Said they where going to make 3,700 FLHXSE2 (approximately). They ended up making 3,738 of them.
1,386 Crimson. Domestic 875
987 Inferno Orange. Domestic 698
874 Kryptonite. Domestic 516
482 Antique Gunstock. Domestic 294
With the lions share staying in the U.S. I'm sure there will be a few of them still sitting on the floors of dealers by the end of 2015.

The dealer I bought my CVORK from said EVERYONE has been looking for the Hard Candy silver.
-
My dealer mentioned to me like 900 of the blue ones this year.

I have a deposit on a Silver, dealer has a black one coming in and has been shopping it trying to get my Silver in earlier. So far, no takers. So they say.....

I rode a black one and the yellow one at the Long Beach International Motorcycle show and the yellow one really needs to be seen in person to be appreciated. I'm not really a yellow guy but the paint and quality of the one i rode was excellent. The took an extremely bright yellow and put an ice pearl on it and it still retained the brightness. Many times yellows get muddy when pearl is applied over it, not this one!! The black was beautiful too, just a bit subtle. I'd own a yellow one for sure, but my fav is the hard candy mercury silver. I also got to ride a SE Road Glide Ultra for THREE HOURS! It was awesome. The piece de resistance was riding the LiveWire (pun intended)....it was awesome.

I heard the same today from dealer he said not a problem with the paint on them ,but they can't produce a constant match for replacement parts on the yellow.
-
?.. Can't see that somehow, they've already made shed loads in yellow and are now out for distribution so a bit late to say they can't match colours! The ones I've seen match perfectly.
God help you then if you need a replacement fender/ fairing!. :P

Good news if true. Now I won't see as many on the road. Originally I leaned towards the Hard Candy and Black w/Goldust but in person the Yellow w/Black is the best color scheme with just enough black (like the engine) to offset the yellow.
A typical biker w/stereotypical look is not going to ride yellow and have his bike club buddies laugh at him.
