Rear belt adjustment?
« on: November 27, 2012, 04:33:26 AM »

Hi there

I recently bought a secondhand (had only travelled extremely low miles, so basically new) 2012 CVO Street Glide. While cleaning it after I discovered the rear belt is way too tight. As in it has almost no deflection.

I'm happy to adjust it, have a belt tool and a friend has lent me a flat 12 point rear axle tool that is supposed to save having to remove the RHS muffler to undo the 36mm nut.

I just checked with using the spanner and it doesn't want to sit on the nut properly because the muffler prevents the spanner from aligning correctly with the nut? In most postions but in particular at the 6.00 o'clock spot.

Are CVO mufflers larger in diameter that other mufflers in the FL touring family? Or am I doing something incorrectly. Bike is unladen and on the jiffy stand. Would it be easier off the ground back wheel lifted?

Cheers

Hi there

Sorted!

Had to undo the RHS muffler clamp and the rear hanger bolts and pulled it down and out enough to get the tool on. Very tight fit but it's possible.

Anyway jobs done.
