Title: 20th Birthday of the Old Road Glide
Post by: Twolanerider on September 20, 2020, 11:27:00 PM
20 years old this month.  Still makes me happy.  The old machine did 400 miles yesterday just out farting around and another 450 today.  Beautiful early fall days; just perfect riding weather.  The bike has never ran better with its engine work last winter.  All the details have it completely dialed in to me and the mechanicals are such it should last as long as I do.

It's got a few little "spots" that show its age and its miles.  Still represents pretty well though.  Especially for such a stock bike...

Its garage brethren all rolled out late this afternoon for a little wipe down and group photo.  Just to celebrate the day.  Almost 60 years of CVO age there.  1999 FXR2, 2000 Road Glide and 2002 Road King.  I obviously don't have a preference as to color.

Then just a few to show more details and see how well the old machine still represents.

That's it.  Little walk-around.  Finished off with a less recent pic on a Eureka Springs Gathering.  :2vrolijk_21:

Thanks Greg.  Had a good time today with a BSR on the back for a good riding day then just cleaning up and taking a few pics when got home.  It's a really good bike.

Too Good Gary.  I was thinking about Otis when I was out riding the old bike on Saturday all by myself.  Had a roughly 30 mile stretch of mostly unused county and state roads I know well and, for the first time in a long time, retouched my HBRR bona fides that Otis conferred upon me.  The new engine work makes the bike really happy up there ;D .

As you are both undoubtedly aware, Otis had a 2001 triple red before he bought the 2002 black and gray Road Glide.

I bought his triple red when he traded it in on the 2002.

On a separate note I am not usually terribly emotional, but during this years MV GTG I had occasion to ride up the big hill on 26 out of Asheville in a group ride with many of the GTG regulars including several fellow HBRR members. Every time I rode with Otis to or from MV he wanted to race up this hill, even on his last trip there.

I teared up just a little thinking about our departed friend.
