I'm late to the game looking to replace the music head unit with navigation and music that will replace stock unit and look stock. I tried the navigation units that use different ram type mounts just too small and never work for very long. what does everyone recommend?

Crickets... guess i'm screwed on wanting a stock looking unit. any other advise on a good gps add on?

I doubt a single din sized radio would allow a big enough screen to allow a descent view. I have had a Zumo 550 mounted on my bars down near the speedo on a RAM mount since 2013 without an issue. I am pretty sure they discontinued it but make something similar. It is even fuel proof if it gets splashed by gas during a refill. The other more expensive option is there are a few companies that make a double din tray that requires you to cut your existing tray out of the inner fairing and fiberglass a double din tray in that will hold a new style radio with a nav screen and repaint the inner fairing.

thanks for the info. i'll keep looking for a new gps. i have a Tomtom and Garmin that we use in the cars but they don't work well on the bike.

How about this double DIN replacement inner fairing?

Another option if you are willing to replace your inner fairing (or modify existing one with the option listed below in their page):
