Title: FYI - for those interested in wireless CarPlay
Post by: VRODDAVE on June 10, 2021, 11:28:31 AM
Quote from an email I received today.
"We're happy to let you know that we are now supporting Harley-Davidson 2019-2021! :)

As long as your car has factory-installed* Apple Carplay, it will now work with our adapter. 👍🏼
"

I cannot personally vouch for this item, just letting everyone know it is now available

But isn't our problem that we can't run Apple Car Play without a headset connected? At least that's the work around that I thought I needed to utilize ACP since I usually don't use a headset. Will this work for that issue? :nixweiss:

I had the mic shut off so I could use car play with out a headset, but when I used the headset for the CB and phone, both worked , I thought they wouldn't work if the mic was shut off with the digital technician?

I don't believe this wireless CarPlay solution was intended to address any operational issues caused by not having a mic or headset connected.

This solution would address those that have phones too large to fit in the cubby. In my case I went with a 10 foot Apple certified USB cable routed from the cubby glove box to the tour pack.

And as far as the headset / mic issue, I resolve that with the Harley Davidson cena half helmet. With integrated 10r headset. Everything's so concealed you don't even know you have a headset on. I have two of these helmets which paired up and work so well with Apple CarPlay I see no reason to try the wireless version of CarPlay.

Just my 2 cents   :)

On another forum there's a guy selling a "jumper connector" that tricks the bike into thinking theres a headset connected.....upon seeing  that I investigated further and one can use a female spade Stakon to fashion a jumper.
Can't recall the pins that need jumping....will try to find the info as I need to do mine yet.

Sounds good Dayne. I find that the wired connection is better quality for music reproduction than wireless but I get the convenience factor.
