Title: Michelin Commander II odd wear pattern
Post by: SIKBIRD on June 14, 2021, 06:25:28 PM
Any of you had any issues with MC II wearing in a strange pattern? Front tire at 9,500 miles has these odd shapes all the way around the tire (see photo). Tried contacting Michelin, after 30 minute wait gave up and hit the option for them to call me back.  That was two weeks ago still waiting (haha).

The patterns showed up after a 1,500 mile ride.  I inspected both tires thoroughly, like I do before any ride and they were not there.  I watch my air pressure like a hawk and never leave without 38 psi in the front and 40 out back.  Back tire looks fine.

The movie Alien comes to mind...

Honestly though, that looks dangerous.

No doubt! Reminds me of the cartoons when the lumps come up on their heads.

Finally got in touch with Michelin customer service and opened a warranty case.  Sent the pictures but they want me to take it to a Michelin dealer to have the tire inspected.  Bad thing is I had surgery last week (distal bicep tear) so I am down for 3 months.  I will probably take the wheel off and take it to H-D since I can’t ride.  My dilemma is if no warranty, then I’d rather not pay H-D to replace the tire, cycle gear is much cheaper but I think I’m going to replace the bearings so not sure if cycle gear does that…decisions, decisions.
