Title: 131" Badge for Heavy Breather
Post by: GKroadking on February 15, 2022, 04:14:37 AM
I hope it's not a double post

My CVO Street Glide is going to the dealer today for conversion to the 131 kit. I'm looking forward to the result  ;D
How did you solve the problem with the badge on the air filter? I couldn't find a 131 badge for the Heavy Breather from Harley and the 117 badge can't stay either
Ideas are welcome.

Why aren't you going with one of the two recommended breathers the ventilator extreme or heavy breather extreme?  That intake breather on your bike barely flows enough air for a 117.  It is far from a high flow breather.  Thats probably why Harley does not make 131 badge for that breather.

On my 2021 SESG I installed the 131 ci kit. The kit did not have a new breather as I was told stock it was a high flow breather. I think the stock breather on the CVO streetglide is the Screamin' Eagle Heavy Breather Elite Air Cleaner.......key word being I think.

I have never been able to find 131 badging for my breather any where. I was able to find a nice 131stage IV derby cover though.

Sorry, no help here, but when I upgraded to a Fuel Moto 128" kit last year I left my 117 badging in tact. I kinda like the stealthy "sleeper" mode. :-)

Agree! I went with the heavy breather extreme which my tuner told me was a great option. He did tell me I needed to change the one that came on with the 117 badging

I just used the SE Medallion for Heavy Breather  -  14101217  after putting on the131 kit.

And based on the VE mapping for the 120 HP and 135 ft-lbs that I got after install, it does not seem to need an intake or filter change.

Thanks Dave, but I think the explanation for this is a little too simple... :o

Ditto
When we built the motor last year I took off the 117 badges and replaced them with 103 emblems.
They comment that it sounds really healthy for a 103 and seems to pull hard and out run their new cvo’s.
I told them I’m using Ferrari spark plugs!

The factory air filter Stock on your bike will work.  That said, you will be leaving horse power and torque on the table.  This is because it does not have enough air flow.  On motors over 120 Horse power, going from that filter to a true high flow filter, you will pick up 3~5 horse power.  Most any tuner worth his salt explain this, and even better yet prove it.  The kit includes a high flow intake, bigger throttle body (for more air flow) and new heads for Higher air flow.  New exhaust for increased air flow.

Why keep a filter that is not increased flow when everything else is increased air flow?

Me if I am spending over 3K to build a motor, I am sure not leaving power on the table.  When the 131 kit came out two years ago, Harley recommended the extreme flow ventilator or extreme flow heavy breather.  Its not listed this year with the recommendation for it.

Mine was a 130" for 2 years before I was able to get a custom made 130 timer cover.
