Title: What floor jack do you use?
Post by: tjmac49 on June 13, 2011, 07:33:42 PM
New to the FXSTDSE2; brought it home this past Friday.  I was hoping to gain some insight as to what floor jack you use with your SE Deuce.  The lower spoiler runs nearly the entire length of the frame bottom; since it appears to be plastic, I suspect the yellow Sears or red Pit Bull floor jacks would crush the plastic along the bottom rail of the frame.  Please share your experience.  Thanks.

45 lookers at this thread with no reply's. I guess that's also 45 people that don't have any Idea other than a bench style lift like the H-D Shops got. Those are a little more $$.

 8) 8) 8)

Bought the Sears aluminum low motorcycle lift.  A little more expensive but easily goes under my Ultra Glide.  Works well.

My buddy has very heavy duty one from Northern.  Also, very heavy.

Also fits under the SEEG'S and the SESG's with no issues.

I have the Aluminum Sears jack, which did eventually crush and crack the loer frame spoilers, so beware of any of these jack contraptions.

BTW - Those spoilers are NOT cheap to replace either!

I have since purchased a Handy SAM 2 and those issues are a distant memory.

They all will eventually destroy the lower frame spoilers installed on the SED's.

I suspected the lower frame spoilers were susceptible to being cracked by most floor jacks.  I was hoping to find out differently.  Appreciate of your's experience and input.

With all due respect I bought the cheapest full length bike lift (foot pump lift) from Harbor freight tools did not like tire vise so I purchased after market "L" vise and drilled holes and mounted still use ratcheting straps for security then obtained (junkyard/free)and old import car scissor jack low profile 3" head/lift plate. Might seem pricey at first, but love the lift with a rolly stool(recovering HarborFreight addict) great working on bikes or polishing up

Yes u can get the red table lift from Harbor Freight for under $300 and if u get a 20% discount, u have enough to buy one of those front bike stands that u drive into and it clamps with a jaw that swings up and grabs the back of the tire and pushes it into the front upper vee. Very secure. Bolt it on in place of the stupid little vise tire clamp that is waiting to drop your bike, don't ask my how I know :( Now with the setup I have, I ride up and on and when the front tire locks in, I get off the bike and walk away!! I will get a picture of something that I used for my SE Deuce and it never touched the plastic frame rails!!!

OOPs I have the FatBoy on there, but u can see the gray colored deal on the front of the stand, it is also H.F. product for $50 or lower if onsale or with a discount coupon. It all is a well spent $300 for working on your bike!

you must take the frame rails off before attempting to lift bike the frame rails will crack and I do believe are no longer available. remove first!!!

Exactly Charlie! I priced them painted last year and they were more than $600 for the pair! Even unpainted cost more than I spent on the lift and the new front tire clamp plus bolts, tax, and everything else... To me it was a no brainer. And it works for both bikes that I have.
