Officer Dies 5 Days After Motorcycle Accident
« on: March 06, 2007, 08:45:45 AM »

Unfortunately, its bad news coming out of Atlanta again. 5 days ago, an off-duty Clayton County motor officer ran into the back of a vehicle while he was going to participate in a funeral procession. Here are some related links:

I feel so sorry for his wife and his young daughter.

That was a shame. Prayers will be said for him and his family.

I almost wish they would do away with funeral escorts especially for bike officers. Other than a pursuit that is the most dangerous type of riding for them and has led to many needless deaths.

I hate seeing any loss but you are right, the escort jobs just heighten the chance for a problem.

I have a friend that rode excort until this year and finally tossed it in after the loss of two friends in seperate accidents while riding escort.  You ride at high speed in the worst possible condition.  People cutting the line, attendees pull out on the escorts when they least expect it etc. etc.
