2015 FLTRUSE runs really hot. Is this normal?
« on: June 14, 2021, 01:05:34 PM »

Hi everyone. I bought my dream bike a few months ago and I'm really excited about it. But I didn't expect it to be as hot as it is. With all the vents open the heat that still comes off is crazy. the bike seems to run fine but it gets really uncomfortable after about an hour with the heat. Is this a common problem? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. it has 45K mile on it.

So this bike is twin cooled, radiators and fans?

That’s a road glide right?
I believe they were twin cooled.
My 2016 cvo ran hot also.
It helped a bunch with a good exhaust system, no cat, dyno tune.

it is but this thing still feels like it's on fire after about a 90 min ride this weekend.

Yeah its a road glide, Thanks for the advice Sir.
Not sure what has been done to your bike, but if it still has the cat exhaust that addeds a lot of heat. Once the cat is gone it should help but for real relief you ready need a tuner and get a good tune.

Mine, a 16 RGUSE, with a Fullsac DX pipe and 1.75 cores and a caned map from Steve works very well… heat is reasonable. In fact the right side fan  hardly ever runs. Best money spent on it..: 55k miles and going strong

Same setup on my 2016 cvo limited, canned map, TTS tuner, DX pipe and 1.75 cores.
Noticed my right fan only came on when it got very warm OAT. Bike ran fine. No issues.

Hot? Is this your annoyance from radiant heat or substantial evidence that engine temp is above normal.

you need to seriously consider doing a proper "stage 1", being a full exhaust (header and muffler) and a proper fuel tuning system and with a proper dynotune.  As others have mentioned, the stock header has a cat inside the pipe and retains a lot of heat.  Also, in stock form the engine runs lean, which causes it to run hot.  While this is "normal" according to Harley, it is not comfortable to ride at times.  These modifications will increase power and responsiveness.

I have the same bike and it also ran hot. I now have Fullsac DX headpipe, 1.75” cores, TTS Mastertune and Dyno. Runs way cooler and the low end torque improved. Steve does great work.
