AUX in vs. IPOD radio input....
« on: July 02, 2007, 10:20:53 PM »

Has anybody compared using AUX in vs. IPOD radio levels to HK radios?  I loaded up my Zumo with music and the level of the AUX sux....  I did make sure the the AUX level was at max...

Thanks,

Mark

Have you checked/adjusted the volume output in your Zumo? From the main screen click on the "wrench" then "volume" and see if "MP3/Audible" is set to 100%.

Yea  D00d - that was the first thing I did -- I was amazed at the delta sound level between aux in and the other inputs.

Actually, I just tried hooking up my iPod today in advance of a road trip.
I have to set the iPod volume at 100% for the radio to play it thru the aux at 'normal' volume (no distortion)

Battery life is down on the iPod due to high volume level, though.

Hmm, that's odd. Must be a H/K thing :nixweiss: on my radio ('04) I don't experience that problem.

I tried that too with the same result.  I dont have the "radio broadcast" attachment yet and am hoping someone can contrast that vs the AUX in -- that damned thing must have a resistor on it to lower the level -- It is nice for the french girl I have wispering directions to me from the Zumo but that dog ain't gonna hunt for the Rolling Stones I want to hear on the way to Nelson.....

Nixobilly;
I've got an I-Jet for my I-pod and the FM broadcast is tolerable but nowhere near as clean as a direct hook-up. The trouble that I have is that I can't really find any FM frequency that is totally clean, I always get some interference or stations on all of my FM frequencies. I bought a direct ipod hookup cable from an audio store that also charges the i-pod but I then have trouble with feedback through my XM. If I unhook the XM the feedback stops.
Sometimes I will unhook the antenna cable from the tourpak and then use the FM broadcast from the I-Jet, this seems to get a little bit cleaner result.

Mine is one of the old '05 radios
