'06 SE Ultra spec sheet/information wanted
« on: October 07, 2007, 08:00:09 PM »

Hello. Can anyone provide me with the official Harley-Davidson spec/information sheet for a 2006 Screamin' Eagle Ultra Classic? I found one over the weekend at a Harley dealer that is said to be new, never titled and zero miles. I just want to determine all the specifics of the bike prior to making an offer. Also, can anyone give me a heads up on any potential issues with that particular model? Mucho thanks in advance! :)

what color? if it is black/c or water melon you might want to make sure the paint matches.

Color is the biggest question? Most all of the black ones had major paint flaws with the parts that had multi colors. They had too much clear on them and had a milky look to them. Only recalls i know of were the voltage regulator and injectors. The injectors were only on the early 06 units thought.

If it's a late model year built bike, probably no problems at all.  Get the bike outside in the bright sunlight and compare the color of the inner fairing and top of the bags to the parts of the bike which have stripes.  If the dark colors match, it's got good paint.  If it's milky looking, or colored much like a Milk Dud, you'll have to get new tins from the MOCO.

Another way to tell if the striped parts are decent is to run the tips of your fingers across the stripes...if you can feel the stripes, paint is probably OK.

I have the Black Candy/Slate color, built in May of '06, and my paint is fine.

The Haze color does not show the cloudiness.

The paint problems are all related to how much clear was put on top, and how it was applied.  If it's milky, the only cure is replacement with new, freshly painted parts.

Finding an 06 with no miles is rare...the 103 motor is a good one.  You will like the bike a LOT, if you are drawn to it in the first place.

they had most problems corrected by 06, then made lots of changes in 07==creating a whole batch of new problems that have not been corrected.

best bang for the buck would be the 06. add $2000 to purchase price for A/C, pipes, tuner!

Hello Bruce,

The 06 SE 103 CI was the best of the SE Ultras that I have owned.  I should have kept it and not had to deal with the 110 problems and especially with the late delivery of the 08. Go for it as you won't regret the purchase.

Add the 6 speed tranny also.  It's nice to cruise at 70 mph at only 2,400 rpms

Does the 06 have the GPS also?  I don't remember.....

No, It did not come with it however you can order the module and plug it into the HK raido. but it will only display in colors orange and black so for less money you would be better off adding a ZUMO if you wanted a gps unit.

The picture below is what Terry is talking about.  It is quite a battle to get the bad paint fixed, but persistence pays off.
